History
editThe Canadian SailGP Team was founded by Fred Pye and debuted in the 3rd season of the SailGP competition alongside Switzerland SailGP Team in 2022.[2][3] Funding obligations were not met and ownership of the team was taken back by the league. Team Driver, Phil Robertson, announced in July 2023 that a transfer of ownership had been accepted but no further updates have been given.[4][5][6][7]
In September 2023 Sail GP announced that Halifax, Nova Scotia had been selected to Host Season 4 Round 11 on June 1-2, 2024.[8] The event attracted over 80,000 spectators according to the organizers with official tickets selling out and SailGP committed to returning in 2025 and 2026.[9][10]
