Background

edit

A few years before the Battle, the Serbs desieged Durazzo (modern Durrës) and captured the city from the Kingdom of Albania (which later recaptured the city).[1] After the defeat the Serbs got ready to invade Albania which resulted in the Battle near Pelister Mountain.[1]

Aftermath

edit

After the failed Invasion of 1340, Stefan Dušan invades Albania again in 1343–1345 and captures Kanina and Valona. However, he fails to subdue southern Albania, only managing to obtain nominal submission.[1]

Later Resistance by Muzaka

edit

After the Invasion of 1343-1345 and the death of Stefan Dusan, the next thing was the Siege of Berat in 1350 which would again become the Captal city of the Principality of Muzaka. After Karl Thopia defeated the Serb in the Battle of Achelous in 1355 he established the Princedom of Albania.[2] After Andrea II Muzaka expelled newly settelted Serbs from Albania.[3]
