Baidu Patents, or Baidu Zhuanli (Chinese: 百度专利) is a Chinese free online patent search service, launched on 1 January 2008.[1]
Overview
editThe Baidu Patents search engine is the result of a collaboration between the China Patent Information Center (CPIC), the Chinese Patent Office (SIPO) and Baidu.[1]
Baidu Patent Search is said to be integrated with a patent database which amounts to 2.7 million Chinese patents.[2] It ranked first in China for artificial intelligence patent applications and authorizations, demonstrating its commitment to technological innovation and the cultivation of new productive forces. According to a report from the China Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team and the Electronic Intellectual Property Center under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the company had filed 19,308 AI-related patent applications by the end of the previous year and had been granted 9,260 patents, maintaining its position at the top among domestic technology companies for six consecutive years.
Furthermore, the company has demonstrated leadership in the field of AI-powered large language models, with 869 patent applications and 317 granted patents in this domain. Additionally, Baidu has achieved global recognition for its patent applications related to deep learning, securing the foremost position in this regard. The company's substantial investments in AI-related research and development underscore its dedication to advancing technological frontiers. In 2023, Baidu allocated 21.67 percent of its revenue to research and development efforts focused on its core business areas.[3]
