History

edit

AsianWiki was founded to cater to the growing global interest in Asian entertainment, especially with the rising popularity of Korean dramas and Japanese films.[8]

The website was built using MediaWiki software, the same open-source platform used by Wikipedia.

AsianWiki is not accepting new user registrations right now. A small team of editors is focused on creating quality content instead of managing new user accounts.

Alternative

edit

In response to the growing demand for more versatile content management and different user experience,[9][10] an alternative version of the website was launched using WordPress, named AsianWikis, its plural counterpart.[11][failed verification] While AsianWiki[12] continues to use MediaWiki for its main database due to its structured and reliable nature,[13] AsianWikis leverages WordPress for a more flexible design and easier integration with various multimedia formats.[14][failed verification] This alternative site offers similar content but with a different layout and additional features like blog-style news articles and more dynamic content presentation.

Reception

edit

As of August 2024, AsianWiki was ranked at number 25,495 for entertainment websites by Xranks.com.[15]

The website was given a positive review on connectioncafe.com.[16] Moreover, AsianWiki's community-driven model allows for a diverse range of perspectives and insights, adding depth to the coverage of Asian entertainment.

According to statistics from SimilarWeb, AsianWiki.com receives around 7 million views per month.[17]
