Career

edit

In addition to being a presenter and DJ, Dosty has hosted a variety of programs[clarification needed] in Ghana and beyond, including the launch of The Taste of Afrika program.[3]

In 2018, Dosty was appointed to the board of the Ghana DJ awards.[4] In 2019 he was named an ambassador of the International Youth Empowerment Foundation's annual youth summit.[5]

In 2019 Dosty released a single, featuring Kuami Eugene, titled "Love You Die".[6] Later that year, he sparked controversy when he sought public opinion on a statement made by Ghanaian dance hall musician, Shatta Wale, on social media.[7] Dosty later took the credit for helping make Wale a successful artist in Ghana.[8] Fans of Wale claimed Dosty had twisted the facts.[9]

In 2021, Dosty sacked the up-and-coming performer Okese 1 for reporting late at his studio and behaving rudely.[10][11]

Personal life

The daughter

edit

Radio personality Andy Dosty recently shared a story about a former girlfriend who may have had his daughter without his knowledge.[12] Although the mother never confirmed it, the child strongly resembled him when he finally saw her at 13 or 15 years old, even more so than his biological siblings. Some believe he initially denied responsibility for the pregnancy, leading someone else to raise the child. The possibility of a DNA test has been suggested to resolve the situation definitively.[13] Despite his ex-girlfriend's denial of paternity, he supported the child due to their strong resemblance. Andy provided for her education and needs but never pursued a DNA test because of their striking likeness. The child, now an adult, is believed to have married and lives in Durban. Surprisingly, Andy was never informed about her marriage, and he reviewed that, he recently learned that she has become a mother.

Critics and Controversies

Shatta Wale MAALI Album

edit

Andy Dosty in April, 2023 responded to a request from a Shatta Wale fan to review Shatta Wale's new album, MAALI Album.[14] He refused to discuss or support Shatta Wale due to a past incident where Shatta Wale publicly insulted him and Abeiku Santana on stage in Takoradi. Despite Shatta Wale's subsequent social media explanation for his behavior, many viewed it as unprofessional and disrespectful. Andy Dosty emphasized his strong love and respect for his mother, stating that he would not tolerate such disrespect, as he was raised with proper values.[15][16] In essence, Andy Dosty declined the fan's request due to Shatta Wale's previous insulting behavior.[15]
