History

edit

AHCA started its operations in Texas in 2009. The company is led by Hunaid Hakam who serves as its CEO. Hakam, who graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, previously worked as a senior consultant in Deloitte's AERS (Audit and Enterprise Risk Services) Division. The idea for AHCA came to him in 2009 after a choking incident involving an infant, which highlighted the need for accessible CPR training. AHCA was launched as an online training platform in Texas[1][3] and expanded to Vietnam in July 2019, the Philippines in May 2018, and later to Mexico, Latvia, India, and Pakistan.[4]

The company was granted approvals by AGD, AMA, ANCC, and ACPE, and received recognition from NASM, BOCATC, and MHSA to provide training in CPR, First Aid, BLS, PALS, ACLS, and HIPAA.[5]

Hakam has also founded several ventures, including the American CPR Care Association, and Learntastic. Additionally serves as the co-founder at UmbrellaFund.[1]

CSR activities

edit

AHCA partnered with Toys for Tots, a non-profit organization led by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, to provide toys to underprivileged children during Christmas. They donated $1 from every Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course purchased to support this cause during Christmas.[4]
