Aleksandar Miljković (musician)

Aleksandar Miljković (Serbian Cyrillic: Александар Миљковић; born 26 March 1975) is a Serbian classical doublebassist.[1]

Biography

After finishing his music high school in 1994, he studied bass at the University of Arts in Belgrade, the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and postgraduate studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Salamanca.[2]

Composing career

Miljković has published four books. The second book is an official textbook for the Ministry of Education of Republika Srpska. First book is double bass pieces and third book is: "From music to sport". University of Ghana published fourth book as official textbook for double bass. He wrote a concert for solo double bass and orchestra: "Trio Olivera". He has also published 15 CDs. He was inducted into the Africa Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame. Aleksandar with his mother Olivera received the title of honorary citizen of Ostrikovac. The book Football Compassion by Leon Daniel Agyeman Dodoo is about the Miljković Trophy (named after Miljković and his father Blagoje) football tournament held annually in Ghana. He composed the official music for the Mediterranean Games. He published a CD in Cuba for boxer Teofilo Stevenson and also composed the official music for the Aruba national football team. He has composed music for a number of sport clubs. These include CD for many sport sections of Red Star Belgrade.[3]

He composed official music for Omladinsko sportsko drustvo Beograd and Switzerland handball hall of fame and official music for the CSKA Moscow handball club and CD for Belgrade chess association. Also music for football clubs FK VGSK, FK Karađorđe, Real Emirate FC in Ghana (who organize since 2020 a traditional football tournament called Trophy Miljkovic), football club and sport society BASK, FK Radnički Belgrade, FK BSK Batajnica, FK Radnički Pirot, FK Jagodina[4], FK Bor, FK Hajduk Veljko and FK Kosanica and official music for league of future champions (football in Serbia) and for Vietnam national football team and for 18 more football clubs. In 2023, he composed the official music for Canadian club Serbian White Eagles FC.[2]

Also official music for boxing club Radnicki Belgrade (1920) and city race in Ćuprija and official music for canoe European championship 2018 in Belgrade and for basketball club OKK Beograd and for Radio Belgrade and Radio Television Kuršumlija. Official music for place Grgure, Konjarnik, Lučani (official CD), Ostrikovac, Topola, Pučišća, Koštunići, Srbac, Kuršumlija, Spance and Prčanj, newspaper: Politikin zabavnik also for NIN award and Nebojša tower in Belgrade. He published the CD for school Vuk Karadžić in Belgrade. He played for the Belgrade chamber group Simfonieta during 1998 and has played as a guest on many TV shows. In 1999 he was one of the student representatives on the Nobel Prize.[citation needed]

He has performed in several solo concerts and other public appearances in Serbia, and abroad in the United States, Sweden, Spain, Croatia and in Austria, Vienna, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia.[citation needed]

Tutor

Miljković has taught bass at MS Stankovic since 2002 and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. He is also professor of double bass at International Academy of Music, Pučišća, Croatia, since 2013. His students have performed at the Cultural Center of Belgrade, Student Cultural Center, the Red Star Stadium and a concert for the "Museum Night" event, as well as numerous guest appearances on TV and radio shows.[citation needed]
