Ahmet Yıldız (born 23 January 1964, Denizli), Turkish politician, diplomat and deputy foreign minister.

Life and career edit

He is a graduate of Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations. From 1989 onwards he took on duties in Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He took duty in Embassy of Damascus between 2000-2002 and 2005-2006 and in Embassy of Damascus during 2004–2005, as first secretary. From 2006 to 2008 he was consul-general in Jeddah. During 2008-2009 he was the president of Iraq Office, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and consul general in Mosul from 2009 to 2011. He was ambassador in Sarajevo between 2011 and 2014. From July 1, 2014, onwards he was a senior counsellor of prime ministry. With the election of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as president, he became the senior counsellor of the presidency in charge of foreign affairs. During senior counselling he was also a member of Foreign Policy Advisory Board. As of June 29, 2016 he became deputy foreign minister, but resigned from duty on April 26, 2018, to run as a candidate for the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.[1] He has represented Denizli during the 27th term of TBMM, from Justice and Development Party and became vice-president and president of the Turkish Group in Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. On June 22, 2023, he became deputy foreign minister again.[2]

He is married and has 3 children. He knows English and Arabic.[3]
