77 Diamonds was established in 2005 by Tobias Kormind and Vadim Weinig.[4][5][6][7][8][9] The company name was inspired by the year of the first recorded diamond ring proposal when Archduke Maximilian of Austria proposed to Mary of Burgundy.[10]

The company primarily offers diamond jewellery.[11][12][13][14] It operates online as an e-commerce store and has physical showrooms in London, Manchester, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Zurich, Geneva, Milan, Stockholm and Dubai.[15][16][17][18]

In 2009, 77 Diamonds opened its first physical showroom in London's Mayfair district.[19][20][21][22][23]

In 2019, the company received £650,000 in funding.[24][25][26]
