Previous season edit

The Tigers finished the 2022–23 season 23–8, 13–5 in AAC play, to finish in second place.[1] They defeated UCF[2] and Tulane to advance to the championship game of the AAC tournament.[3] There, they upset No. 1-ranked Houston to claim their first-ever AAC tournament championship.[4] As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 8 seed in the East Region, where they were defeated by Florida Atlantic in the first round.[5]
