Talk:2021 Wikimedia Foundation actions on the Chinese Wikipedia

A question

edit

In May, 2022, the People's Republic of China opposed the entry of Wikimedia branches in six countries into WIPO. I think the actions of the People's Republic of China are related to those of the Foundation. Please give your opinion.

I once added this content to Chinese Wikipedia, but a user said that the actions of the People's Republic of China had nothing to do with the actions of the Foundation, and deleted this passage.Assifbus (talk) 14:33, 13 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Incomprehensible sentence

edit

The article contains the words "the Chinese government refused the Wikimedia Foundation to join WIPO". I have no idea what this means. Please can someone elucidate. — The Anome (talk) 16:14, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@The Anome: It is referring to World Intellectual Property Organization#Recent events: In September 2020 China blocked the Wikimedia Foundation from observer status at WIPO citing the existence of a Wikimedia affiliate in Taiwan. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 00:08, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I've now put the wording above in the article. — The Anome (talk) 07:38, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
