Ready to go!

edit

I've added everything that I could think of to the Motto Shop process, and I think that I've finally finished! Motto Shop is ready to go! ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 01:13, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

WP:MOTD/G

edit

Fancy adding info about the motto shop to WP:MOTD/G, anyone? I think this is a good idea because MS mottos follow the same format as the main MOTD ones. Kayau Voting IS evil 02:26, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose I disagree. I think that it would be enough to just put in an instruction saying that all mottos for this follow the same guidelines as MotD mottos. Anyone who wants to find out about how this works would probably go to the Motto Shop pages first, because there is no guidelines page in the MS section of the navbox. They will see that there is a link that goes to where instructions are, the requests page, and then they will see the instructions. The last place that they will look is the guidelines for something else that is in a different section. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 04:30, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Questions, problems, changes, whatever

edit
  1. Why are the templates substituted? It looks to me like it would work better just to have them delivered as a template, instead of having to copy the block of text.
  2. When I added my request, it automatically opened the add new section window, with nothing in the heading box and the text "== ~~~ ==" preloaded before the template. When I tried to save the page, it prompted me for not having anything in the heading! It should be changed to have "~~~" as the heading, and just the template and hidden text as the content of the section.
  3. And one other possible minor change: the "4 stars" rating is green, and the "5 stars" rating is blue. I think that should be switched around.
  4. Just saw another. The talk page for the participants page (/Participants) should redirect to here, like /Templates and /Requests do.
  5. And yet another that has to do with the participants page: should it have the shortcut WP:MOTD/MS/P?
  6. When do the closed requests get archived?
  7. Uh, I don't think the closed requests are supposed to go here.

  1. Thank you, I forgot about that. Fixed.
  2. I hate to say this, but I'm not sure how... Would you mind telling me?
  3. Green-GA, Blue=FA, FA>GA. That's what I was thinking about. That's also why it's red for 1 and orange for 2. I picked grey for three because grey seems neutral, so I went with that instead.
  4. I'll do that, thank you for pointing it out.
  5. Yes, it should. I'll do that. :)
  6. ClueBot, after four days.

  1. Seemed confusing to have a big block of code delivered to my talk page, but it was obviously just from being instructed to do it that way. How do I use the template in my header now? I copied the subst-ed text, but I would like to use the template instead.
  2. I don't know either! Maybe you could ask whoever set it up? I put it here because I didn't know where else.
  3. That's OK.
  4. Noticed it later, and thought it should follow Requests and Templates, but wanted to check first. I don't think this needs a reply :)
  5. See #4.
  6. I couldn't tell how long it was. Thanks.

In general, I think Hi878 should clean up this discussion, as he's a member of the talk page cleanup crew.

  1. This is because when the section header consists only of markup (the tildes have NOT been changed to text yet).

Kayau, I'm just going to make the section headers more clear. :) You are the only one causing problems, however. I can't tell who you are replying to, or what you are saying. That was a rather confusing sentence. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 02:59, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I meant to answer the question that both of you don't understand. As you can see, the number I put is 2. I used HTML because wikitext cannot start with a number other than 1. Kayau Voting IS evil 04:00, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Alright, that makes sense. However, I still don't understand what you were saying. :) ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 04:09, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I was answering the question, 'When I added my request, it automatically opened the add new section window, with nothing in the heading box and the text "== Kayau Voting IS evil ==" preloaded before the template. When I tried to save the page, it prompted me for not having anything in the heading! It should be changed to have " Kayau Voting IS evil " as the heading, and just the template and hidden text as the content of the section.'. (Or trying to answer, anyway. It could be another reason.) Kayau Voting IS evil 04:15, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ah. Well, you didn't answer what we wanted to know, which was how to tell a template to make a section header in the box. :) By the way, you have a question waiting for you at the main MotD talk page. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 04:40, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Aw, but explanation is good. :) I've answered already, FYI. Please refresh your watchlist. Kayau Voting IS evil 04:42, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, whatever. Hopefully, someone will see this and help. :) ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 04:47, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

A new template

edit

Hi Motto Shop! I ave an idea for a new template. Do I have permission to add it on the project page? Secret Saturdays (talk to me) 23:34, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

You don't need permission to add them; you just need to let me know, so that I can update the request templates. Make sure you add it to the table so that it is in the same format as the rest. :) ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 23:38, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
YDone and a heads up- I finished my template and is now up, and I might create new ones in the future. :) Secret Saturdays (talk to me) 00:35, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Alrighty; I'll update the templates. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 00:42, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi guys, As a member of the Logo shop, I've taken the liberty of designing you a logo:
Please feel free to use it on your pages but please accredit it to me in some way, even if it's only small. Thanks, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Review me) 12:01, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Rock drum, it is automatically accredited to you, by clicking on the image. However, I don't think that at this moment we are in need of a logo, especially since we seem to be running out of business already... Kayau Voting IS evil 12:50, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Especially such an "in your face" logo. Something a bit quieter would be nice. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 23:52, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
What we need now is an advert. And I just made one. Kayau Voting IS evil 05:03, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Good job! I like it! ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 19:53, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. If there's no opposition within 7 days I'll add it to template:Wikipedia ads. BTW did you spot the two hidden jokes? Kayau Voting IS evil 11:10, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Lol, "Napoleon is always right" and "Kiss me Hardy"? And why put in the article name; just put in "Click here" instead, it looks better that way. Derild4921 22:18, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
@Hi878 What is your definition of a less "in your face" logo? Thanks, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 16:23, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, it's really bright, and just sort of... Attacks your eyes, I suppose. :) ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 18:21, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

What do you suggest should be done? Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 18:48, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Nothing; I don't think we need a logo. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 18:52, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oh... ok. Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 18:54, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Removing 'pull quotes'

edit

The daily quote uses pull quotes. Pull quotes should only be used to repeat text that is already there. I think straight quotes would look better and closer abided by the [[WP:MOS]]. The pull quotes should be straight quotes, IMHO. Cheers! ...Checkingfax ( Talk ) 09:15, 17 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
