Announcement! edit

I have too much work to do around the wikipedia, especially with my new Medcom duties. So, to get Esperanza up to speed, I am effectively making Essjay the admin general of Esperanza. I still may run the spamlist though, as Essjay may not be in the mood for leaving 30 talk page messages ;) Redwolf24 (talk) 22:49, 2 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good to me, good luck and hope to see you soon. Welcome back Essjay Gryffindor  23:00, 2 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I guess it would be a good idea for me to accept, considering that Redwolf24 is off and spamming ;-) And Red, please do continue to maintain the spamlist; as my first unofficial act, I'm making you the (unoffical) Esperanza Spamster. -- Essjay · Talk 23:02, 2 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

The spamlist can be easily notified using the Notification Bot, which is up and running. Take a look at this: User:NotificationBot/Mind Benders — 50+ names would take me quite a while to notify (which I actually did once), but the bot takes care of that for me. And Essjay, congratulations! On another note, I've been meaning to ask the Esperanza community about an idea I had a month or so ago: User:Flcelloguy/Appreciation week. Let me know what you think! Thanks. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 02:47, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Essjay, "Spamster" sounds ugly... how about Esperanza Secretary of Member Notifications? ;) Titoxd 04:54, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
How about Secretary of Prominent Announcements for Members? Or if you want to get fancy, Secretary of Prominent Announcements for Members with Substantially Talkative, but Extravagant Roles? --Deathphoenix 05:12, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Or: Special Poster And Message Sender To Esperanza Royal. Paul August 19:34, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Essjay is a worthy candidate, worthy indeed. Redwolf has shown his spamming skills, let him do what he does best Banes 11:29, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Moving forward edit

Alrighty then, I think it's time for us to move forward. A lot has happened in the past few weeks, but it is exactly that: the past. Now is the time for Esperanza to do what it was set up to do. As such, I'm setting forth a few proposals here that I beg all Esperanzians to accept.

  1. We will not wait for the government to be formed to act. As of now, I am declaring Esperanza's initatives active. All Esperanzians should immediately put Wikipedia:Esperanza/Alerts on their watchlist, and I strongly encourage everyone to add Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs as well. There are two active alerts as of now, and I would like to see a full blown Esperanza assault to resolve and/or reduce the stress levels of these individuals. To that end, I have already posted messages, and I encourage others to do so.
  2. Esperanza's possible programs has been reformed to reflect the programs that have acheived consensus. Active programs are now listed at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs, while proposals still under debate are listed at /Possibles. I encourage all Esperanzians to jump in and take part in the active programs and to suggest possible programs. Please add yourself to the calendar, and consider nominating your page for Trading Spaces. Also, if you know of an article that could use sprucing up, list it in the Esperanzian Drive section.
  3. I strongly encourage members to set up a system for checking the stress-image templates and backtracking to leave messages for anyone with Level 3, 4, or 5 (assuming someone uses level 5) stress. I have added a subpage to the alerts page listing links to these indicators. I also strongly encourage Esperanzians to do a search on Wikipedia user/talk pages for "wikibreak" and "stress." If anyone would like to head up this initative, please let me know.
  4. On the subject of elections: It has been brought to my attention that the advisory council elections should be moved up. As such, I am announcing that they will take palace starting Friday, October 7th at 12:00 UTC and will last until 11:59 UTC on October 13. The election subpage will be set up before that with the names of the candidates, but no votes cast before that time will be counted. I will announce the voting system later this evening on Wikipedia:Esperanza/Election.

That is all I have for now, I promise there will be more later. -- Essjay · Talk 23:46, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've posted the election process at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Election. All potential candidates should sign up there before 12:00 UTC on Thursday, October 6! -- Essjay · Talk 02:14, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

AntiWikistress edit

Essjay, I would be really intrested in heading the "Anti-wikistress" (or whatever you wold like to call it) initiative. What should I do? Should I create a list of wikipedians with high wikistress?--Exir KamalabadiEsperanza 23:58, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

I knew there was something I forgot! Please, please, please, advertise for Esperanza where you can. If you leave an Esperanza-inspired note (i.e., in response to an alert) consider mentioning Esperanza as the source. I'll try working on an image that we could use as a "you're appreciated" symbol that would incorporate either the long or short form of the Esperanza logo. Many of you have added a green "e" to your signature, and I commend that. I've created a userbox for my userpage that uses the short logo, perhaps others would consider adding it, or a similar one, to thier userpage. The userbox looks like this:

This user is a member of Esperanza.

It can of course be customized to denote "Admin General," "Advisory Council," etc, as well as to use different colors. I strongly encourage all of you to use it! -- Essjay · Talk 02:57, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Who says you need an e? ;) Titoxd(?!?) 03:04, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Perfectly percolated coffee, Esperanza's own blend.
Uh, where is this calendar that Essjay mentions above? Paul August 03:23, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Esperanza/Calendar It's also linked from the Programs page, and I'll add a link to the mainpage. -- Essjay · Talk 03:32, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

For anyone that would like to use it when they leave cheer up messages, I've created Image:Cafe Esperanza.JPG -- Essjay · Talk 05:14, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've created a userbox based on Essjay's box. You can include it directly by typing {{User:Titoxd/UserPage/Esperanza Box}}, which produces something like this:

Why mess with HTML code and CSS if we already did it for you? Isn't that the spirit of Esperanza? ;) Titoxd(?!?) 06:54, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I and created Category:Wikipedians in Esperanza for a easier way to find the members. I also was a bit bold, and added it to Titoxd's box here, so if you use the userbox on your userpage, you'll automagically be included. Bratschetalk | Esperanza 12:02, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

BTW, I created an Esperanza banner that you can put on your userpage. You can see it here:{{User:Exir_Kamalabadi/E}}. I have problems with changing the color to green, though. (I rarely create tables). Can anyone help me?--Exir KamalabadiEsperanza 12:43, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
I changed it to green to match the colors I used with my userbox, so we have a "uniform appearance" or something similar. (Shall we call it "Esperanza Green" or something? :)) I'm still trying to get rid of that white border, but that shouldn't take long... hopefully. Titoxd(?!?) 17:15, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Done with that. But shouldn't we put all the banners, userboxes, and other Esperanza-related buttons in one subpage, so members can see them all at once? Titoxd(?!?) 17:50, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think that's an excellent idea, and I'll do it. We'll have it at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Images and the shortcut will be WP:ESP/I. -- Essjay · Talk 20:26, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Maybe we should include them too at Category:Wikipedians in Esperanza, which is what I've been working on. Titoxd(?!?) 21:11, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
I've also taken the liberty to create another two Esperanza user boxes. They are: {{User:Titoxd/UserPage/Esperanza AG Box}} for Essjay and {{User:Titoxd/UserPage/Esperanza AC Box}} for members of the Advisory Committee after the election. Here's {{User:Titoxd/UserPage/Esperanza AG Box}}:

{{User ESP-AG}}

And here's {{User:Titoxd/UserPage/Esperanza AC Box}}:

{{User ESP-AC}}

I tried to make them look similar to the members' userbox ({{User:Titoxd/UserPage/Esperanza Box}}), in order to remind people that we're a community and that rank doesn't differentiate or separate us. Titoxd(?!?) 21:45, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much, Titoxd! I actually have a box like that on my page, except in the white, since all my other userboxes are in white (I have a unified theme). I enourage all Esperanzians to utilize the boxes as soon as possible! -- Essjay · Talk 21:48, 4 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Here is five new banners for fellow esperanzians to use:

I hope that everyone enjoys it!--Exir KamalabadiEsperanza 02:52, 7 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Esperanza has too many subpages? edit

Ich habe eine Bitte: Why not make all the discussion pages for the subpages of Esparanza point here instead? --HappyCamper 00:31, 5 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Some of the subpage-talkpages are useful, like the talk page of /Possibles, where the discussion of possible programs is taking place. Any that are redlinked, or otherwise not in use, could be redirected here, though. -- Essjay · Talk 20:31, 5 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Speaking of the possibles, I just wanted to draw everyone's attention, since most people probably haven't watchlisted that subpage, to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Possibles, where I've put down an idea. Input and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 23:50, 5 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
