Tip of the Day edit
Tip of the moment...
How to find legal photographs and graphics
A good photograph, map, or other graphic in an article can help clarify things. If you want one but are stumped, or totally lost about copyright rules, one really good way to find graphics is to type "public domain" into the Google image search window, along with an appropriate key word. An extra benefit is that you have a high probability of finding photographs that are legal under the Wikipedia rules. (Remember to copy down the artist's name and URL for recent photographs labeled "public domain", because you will need the information when you upload the graphic.) Of course, you shouldn't forget to look on the Wikimedia Commons first—someone may already have done the hard work! (You can use images from the Commons in the same way as local Wikipedia ones.) Here is the link to Wikimedia Commons search. – – Read more: To add this auto-randomizing template to your user page, use {{totd-random}}

Tip of the day...
Please return the favor
When you make use of Wikipedia's desks (Help desk, Village pump, and the Reference desk), please consider putting some time in as a volunteer by reading and answering some questions at whichever desk you think you will be the most helpful. Remember: the Help desk always needs help, and questions asked at the Reference desk span the breadth of all human knowledge. You're likely to know the answer to some of the questions. – – To add this auto-updating template to your user page, use {{totd3}}

The Tip of the Day project provides a different piece of advice for using Wikipedia every day. Like the Picture of the Day, you can include it on your userpage by adding {{totd}} somewhere (at the top of your talk page is a good place for it). The randomized version (displayed above) is {{totd-random}}, and shows a different tip each time it is displayed on your screen. Other formats for the TOTD exist, such as the more compact {{totd3}}, or you can make your own by including {{Wikipedia:Tip of the day/{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}}, {{CURRENTYEAR}}}} on your userpage (which includes the raw text, without any formatting) and then enclose it in your own formatting. To float the tip of the day to the right of content (as it is displayed here), place this code where you want the tip to show up: {{right|{{totd3}}}}.
Style tips edit

Mottos edit
There's a motto of the day project, called, you guessed it: Wikipedia:Motto of the day. To use it, just place {{Motd}} on your user page!
Here's what it looks like:
Today's motto...
→ Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, "I was only joking!"

“ | If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.

Pics and images edit
There is a huge selection of pictures on Wikipedia and its sister site Wikimedia Commons. Pictures can be a powerful way to express yourself...
Pictures can be found all over Wikipedia, but it can be very time-consuming to hunt for them in the encyclopedia's articles. Another option is to browse Wikipedia's collections...

Picture(s) of the day edit
The Picture of the Day, which changes daily, is currently displayed every day on the Main Page, and you can use it to decorate your userpage as well...

The plains-wanderer (Pedionomus torquatus) is a bird in the family Pedionomidae, of which it is the only surviving species. Endemic to Australia, its historical range included Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory, but in recent years it has become endangered, with remaining known populations concentrated in the Riverina (a region in southwestern New South Wales) and western Queensland. The plains-wanderer is a quail-like ground bird, measuring 15 to 19 centimetres (5.9 to 7.5 in). The adult male is light brown above, with fawn-white underparts with black crescents. The adult female is substantially larger than the male and has a distinctive white-spotted black collar. This female plains-wanderer was photographed in the Riverina, north of the town of Deniliquin, New South Wales.

If you'd rather have it without the text (to make it smaller), you can use {{Wikipedia:POTD/{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}}_{{CURRENTDAY}},_{{CURRENTYEAR}} instead.
