Reculver again... edit

  Resolved

Could some kind soul nab me a scan copy of this paper (i.e. not the whole book!), Kelly, S. (2008), "Reculver Minster and its early Charters", in Barrow, J.; Wareham, A. (eds.), Myth, Rulership, Church and Charters Essays in Honour of Nicholas Brooks, Aldershot, Surrey: Ashgate, ISBN 978-0-7546-5120-8, if it doesn't overstep the bounds, and if anyone has access? Also, Reaney, P.H., The Place-Names of Essex, Cambridge, 1935, pp. 230–1, and anything about Reculver in Newman, J., North East and East Kent (Pevsner Architectural Guides: Buildings of England), 1983 (someone's getting that for me via another means :) )? Thanks in advance, either way! Nortonius (talk) 12:10, 22 December 2011 (UTC) p.s. Oops, sorry about the section level, thanks for fixing it![reply]

I should have the Kelly article for you within a few days. GabrielF (talk) 18:05, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Right now, that feels like one of the best Christmas presents I could ask for, thank you, you're a gem! :) Nortonius (talk) 18:35, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you still have this in mind, GabrielF? No worries if not, I can see that you do quite enough here as it is! :) But, if you do still have it in mind, can I add a new item, Gough, H. (1992), "Eadred's Charter of AD 949 and the Extent of the Monastic Estate at Reculver, Kent", in Ramsay, N.; Sparks, M.; Tatton-Brown, T. (eds.), St Dunstan: His Life, Times and Cult, Woodbridge, Suffolk: Boydell, ISBN 978-0-8511-5301-8? Thanks for now! Nortonius (talk) 15:36, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've uploaded "Reculver Minister and its Early Chapters" here Sorry, this took a bit longer than expected. I will try to get the St. Dunstan chapter for you as well. GabrielF (talk) 16:42, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Gosh/OMG/WTF?!(disregard as appropriate) - don't apologise GabrielF, I can't thank you enough! :) Safely downloaded now, so you can take down if need be. Yours aye, Nortonius (talk) 17:01, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ummm - another one?! This book, Clarke, Helen et al. (eds.) (2010), Sandwich The ‘Completest Medieval Town in England’, Oxbow, ISBN 978-1-84217-400-5 {{citation}}: |first= has generic name (help), is reviewed here as mentioning Reculver at least twice, but obviously it's a review so no page numbers are given - any chance of getting any and every page where Reculver is mentioned...? I don't suppose there'll be too many, but it looks very important for little old Reculver - thanks in advance! Nortonius (talk) 17:36, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok - I want to add another one! Judging by worldcat.org it's rare, but there was a copy on my shelf in a job I had until 2002...! It's Fenwick, Carolyn (1998), The Poll Taxes of 1377, 1379 and 1381 Part 1 Bedfordshire-Leicestershire, Oxford: Oxford University Press, ISBN 978-0-1972-6186-6, and I'd be very grateful for all pages listing Reculver inhabitants contributing to poll taxes, but again I have no page numbers, sorry... As I recall, the data are presented in landscape format on the page, running in columns left-to-right, then continuing in the same way on following pages. If you follow me...! Thanks. Nortonius (talk) 19:41, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To summarise for clarity, outstanding items in this request are:

  •   Done Clarke, Helen et al. (eds.) (2010), Sandwich The ‘Completest Medieval Town in England’, Oxbow, ISBN 978-1-84217-400-5 {{citation}}: |first= has generic name (help)

All pages listing taxpayers at Reculver, Kent Anything for St Nicholas-at-Wade/St Nicholas and All Saints/Shuart – there may not be any!
  •   Done Gough, H. (1992), "Eadred's Charter of AD 949 and the Extent of the Monastic Estate at Reculver, Kent", in Ramsay, N.; Sparks, M.; Tatton-Brown, T. (eds.), St Dunstan: His Life, Times and Cult, Woodbridge, Suffolk: Boydell, ISBN 978-0-8511-5301-8
Whole chapter please! I really want this one now, for two articles! Other article is History of the horse in Britain (see below). Thanks in advance!

    • I've uploaded "Reculver: its Saxon church and cross" here. Please let me know when you've downloaded successfully and I'll remove the link. GabrielF (talk) 20:10, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Terrific work again, GabrielF! :D Nortonius (talk) 20:19, 9 April 2012 (UTC) p.s. Oops, probably pretty obvious by now but I forgot to add yes, downloaded and backed up so feel free to remove the link![reply]
See your talk page for excerpts from the Sandwich book. I've uploaded scans from the 1377 Poll Taxes here. I scanned some of the explanatory material because I really don't know enough to fully understand this source. Let me know if you need me to scan some more of the introduction. I scanned all of the mentions of Reculver that I could find. GabrielF (talk) 01:43, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm out of superlatives! :D Thanks GabrielF. I've responded on your talk page, asking for a bit more from Fenwick...! Nortonius (talk) 09:46, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Gabriel, if you would, HOLLIS 003505335 should find Reany. Due to variations in spelling, Fenwick's a bit trickier. OCLC 468238123 and OCLC 773532473 both refer, but show holdings at different libraries. The latter shows several in London environs, if one of our BL readers would care to help out.LeadSongDog come howl! 17:59, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was too vague about Fenwick. There are just four libraries showing holdings. It is in the UvA here, in the BnF here, in the Sorbonne BIU here. There is a google preview available of this page showing 364 taxpayers at 6 pounds 1s 4d in Reculver in 1377, but it doesn't include the other years. Popstar! Magazine May 2007 and May 2008 edit

I need information from these two magazines so that I can fully source a couple of nominations for their Poptastic Awards in those years. I don't know a specific article name or page number (that happens to be the exact information I'm missing). Thanks for any help. - Purplewowies (talk) 23:08, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like that is ISSN 1097-833X or possibly ISSN 1539-9508. Doesn't look promising for library holdings, though a rare few libraries may hold it.LeadSongDog come howl! 01:53, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing it'll be hard to find, then. I know of a library that would have had it (the library of the middle school I went to) that almost certainly doesn't have it now. I've also begun a (so far fruitless) search for an email for Popstar to see if they might possibly be able to direct me to a place where I can find the information I need, since an internet search doesn't turn up any reliable sources for those years. - Purplewowies (talk) 21:27, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure, but it looks to be held in the Library of Congress and in the Brooklyn Public Library here. LeadSongDog come howl! 03:32, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Montreal Gazette from 1981 edit

  Resolved

Hi,
For some articles on Quebec political parties, I am looking for this article : Hubert Bauch, "Chasing votes on the political fringe," Montreal Gazette, 28 March 1981, p. 25. It is a Quebec newspaper. I did not found the ISSN, but you can have the information about the newspaper there : The Gazette (Montreal). Thank you very much! — Riba (talk) 21:43, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ISSN 0384-1294 --тнояsтеn 14:26, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The Gazette is the English-language paper of record for Quebec. It will be held on microfilm in most major public or university libraries in Canada. Library and Archives Canada - Amicus #39168168, Library and Archives Canada - Amicus #39736664, Library and Archives Canada - Amicus #26920798 all pertain, but OCLC 19417411 is probably the most useful. LeadSongDog come howl! 17:12, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Many libraries will also have access to the Eureka databases of Canadian newspapers. Circéus (talk) 20:49, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. But is someone has access to any of these databases to pick the article for me? Thanks! — Riba (talk) 16:44, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Electronic versions may not exist, you know. For example, my library's ProQuest goes back only to 1985, and when I try the example search on Eureka.cc's free search, specifying the Montreal Gazette between 1980 and 1987, the title (sans quotes) turns up nothing. --Gwern (contribs) 16:08 26 January 2012 (GMT)
Thanks for the info. — Riba (talk) 22:59, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two sources for Taddle Creek (magazine) edit

  Resolved
  • The anthology The Journey Prize stories #18

World Cat listing What I need is the notes section that says the story "The eclipse" is from the magazine Taddle Creek. Then that page can be used as a reference for a Taddle Creek story being long listed for the Journey Prize.

  • NOW magazine (of Toronto) vol 23 no 9 from October 30, 2003

This issue contains the yearly Best of Toronto. There is an online archive but I can't figure out how to get from this contents to the actual page that supposedly declared Taddle Creek best Lit Mag Cloveapple (talk) 08:38, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For the first source, this Google search should be sufficient. Here is a snippet. Goodvac (talk) 09:11, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that that search ought to produce a snippet that works, but oddly the snippet that results doesn't contain the needed combination of the story name and magazine name. I'm not sure I can get away with using the search page itself as a reference. Cloveapple (talk) 06:37, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just looked at the search again, and this anthology came up. It must have been recently indexed by Google. It's a primary source though.
As for the Google search page, I think it's safe to assume that "The Eclipse 82 (from Taddle Creek)" should be sufficient verification. Here are some snippets: 1, 2. Goodvac (talk) 05:59, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Would like to check this one - Balfour, E.G. (1849). "Notes on the influence exercised by trees in inducing rain and preserving moisture". Madras Journal of Literature and Science 25: 402-448. Shyamal (talk) 02:55, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That seems to be the wrong volume. According to p.17 of the Catalogue of the library of the Massachusetts horticultural society at "Balfour", you are looking for volume 15, not 25. The (1850) volume XVI is on archive.org from a scan at Oxford, they might also hold vol XV. Also, the paper you seek is cited on this page as 15/36 (1849), 402.
The British Library holdings of that journal as listed under BLL01008625656 include volume 15.
I suspect the cite of volume 25 originated in the 1992 SciAm article by Richard Grove. LeadSongDog come howl! 05:44, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please, I request a drop box copy of this. Also, I want to get some translation of the content, but I assume the pdf you send me will be cut and pasteable to Google Translate (usually newer files have text recognition). If not, may have some targeted questions for a German speaker.

Thanks man. Reading it now. Would not be surprised if they looked at our article for some of their intro materials. TCO (talk) 04:24, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I can get most of the sense of it from translate, but have a few questions if you are a German speaker:

1. What is the amount of F2 detected?

2. How does the F2 result from radiation (ionizing radiation affecting the CaF2 or the actual fission/decay products)?

3. I don't think the article has this, but any info on why the Ca and F2 do not recombine quickly? IOW how are the defects stabilized? Or is it an equilibrium? Also, why does the F combine with other F to make F2 rather than back with Ca?

4. Any other perspective on the article (does it seem definitive)?

TCO (talk) 04:39, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should look elsewhere and ask German speakers directly.--Shrike (talk)/WP:RX 04:58, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Leave it up please. Will get one.TCO (talk) 05:02, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  1. F2 detected: The numbers near the end 0.012±0.0015 mmol g−1 or 0.46±0.06 mg g−1.
  2. In the lab, high speed electrons produce F2 gas bubbles (and dark Ca clusters), in nature U and its decay products do the same over time with beta radiation
  3. No information given. Could be an equilibrium under permanent beta radiation. I wonder why macroscopic (or? No explicit size mentioned) bubbles are formed n the first place instead of more or less single molecule sized cristal defects. I could assume that the envoronment (cristal lattice) has significant influence.
  4. Well, they summarize with "doubtlessly".--109.91.130.30 (talk) 08:16, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's from this Time magazine article, so I imagine any good library will have it. I can post a scan for you if need be, but I expect you can find much more detailed sources on the locations of Iran's facilities. —innotata 15:40, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you're able to post a scan without wasting a lot of time, please do so. I want this image to be put somewhere online for memory's sake, and I also want to compare it to other maps of Iran's nuclear facilities. I sent the link before I saw your message. Churn and change (talk) 17:09, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both very much, however I've managed to mislead you (I'm a bit new to all this); I've given a link to a review when I actually need the text of the essay itself. Are these references better? ISBN 0-226-16921-9, OCLC 12429405
It's quite long; if it's helpful for fair use etc. I'm specifically interested in references to ibn al-Haytham (might be Latinized forms Alhazen/Alhacen), which according to the reference should be on p. 28
Apologies for confusion and thanks again for your efforts. --Merlinme (talk) 17:30, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well that is a 120 page print book. I have access to the book at a nearby public library and can scan some pages (upto 10; largely because of time consideration) for you. If you need more pages, one option might be to split up your requests and coordinate. Do please make an effort to pinpoint what you need though, keeping in mind the fair-use rationale. Churn and change (talk) 17:51, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I realise it's a 120 page book. Page 28 is what the reference says, I'm just a bit wary of differences in editions. If page 28 mentions ibn al-Haytham/Alhazen/Alhacen that's probably all I need. --Merlinme (talk) 20:07, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've sent you the text of To Save the Phenomena p. 26-28 via email. GabrielF (talk) 19:50, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that's perfect. As is usually the case with Jagged_85, the reference does not support his edit, and I've now been able to fix. --Merlinme (talk) 13:25, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

G'day, I've been referred to you by Fifelfoo at RSN. I was wondering if anyone had access to the subject doc, which is from the American Historical Review? The review is needed to establish the reliability of MacDonald, David Bruce (2002). Balkan Holocausts?: Serbian and Croatian Victim Centred Propaganda and the War in Yugoslavia. Manchester University Press. ISBN 0-7190-6466-X as it refers to Serbophobia, the subject of the article Anti-Serb sentiment.

Textuality and Intertextuality in Dostoevsky's Poor Folk edit

  Resolved

This [29] may be useful for the expansion of Poor Folk. I hope it is not a review. Regards.--Kürbis () 22:23, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is a review of Dostoevsky's Poor Folk, touching on some earlier reviews as well. Do you need it (to me a review seems the right thing to expand that article, but that discussion is off-topic for this board)? Churn and change (talk) 22:42, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is very odd. Why should a review cost 10 dollars? It also state the first page number 535. Could you send me this paper anyway? Regards.--Kürbis () 08:47, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Link sent. The page number is for the journal (in this case, I think the numbering is continuous for the entire year). As to the $10, these journals don't run ads, don't charge submitters, and so make all their money off readers. Another discussion off-topic here though. Ancient Tahiti by Teuira Henry (Tahiti aux temps anciens in French) edit

  Resolved

Does anybody know where I can get the rest of Ancient Tahiti by Teuira Henry (Tahiti aux temps anciens in French)? I need the rest of this chapter in the book, which I was only able to see snippets of from google book, and also any other information on Queen Teriitaria II of Huahine (aka Ariipaea Vahine) from that book.

"Trance of Arii-Paea-Vahine"
Early in the beginning of the nineteenth century, before Christianity was embraced in Huahine, the young queen of that island, named Teri'itaria (Queen-carried) or Ari'e-paea-vahine (Wife-of-sovereign- elect) had a strange experience. One afternoon while enjoying the breezes with her maids in waiting, as they sat upon a mat spread out beneath the shade of a breadfruit tree upon the lawn of her beautiful dwelling place in the village of Fare in Huahine, the queen sank back in a stupor, lay prostrate as though asleep for a few moments, and then stopped breathing, to the great consternation of her maids and finally of all her subjects, who supposed her to be dead. In a trance she lay wrapped in scented tapa during four weeks without showing the least sign of life. Meanwhile the ceremonies for the royal dead were performed over her, which ended by bearing her in state to the great marae of Point Manunu at Maeva (p. 148), and placing her upon an altar on the marae grounds, under a roof and covered over with a net. Here she was left, in charge of the clergy, to await her final burial, which, from affection for her, was indefinitely postponed. While thus entranced Ari'i- paea-vahine was conscious of nothing around her, but her spirit roamed. She thought she was travelling over the islands in company with other spirits, visiting places familiar and unfamiliar to her, till she met a spirit lover who carried her in his bosom to his home — a beautiful place with a large house, where two sisters also dwelt with him...

If there is a snafu with e-mail, let me know. I have uploaded the file, and can post a link on your talk page. To answer your implied question, yes, it says 1093 and 3511 are the only Wieferich primes less than a million. There is a proof for 3511 but that is not useable here; pure primary source. Churn and change (talk) 17:09, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, got it. I don't exactly understand what you mean regarding the usability of the proof. I think it is desirable to use peer-reviewed papers published in scientific journals as sources, such as this one. The fact I mentioned from the paper in Wieferich prime#History and search status is that Guy published a second proof of 3511 being a Wieferich prime. If you think there is a problem with that, please let me know on my talk page or (perhaps better) at Talk:Wieferich prime. -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 13:13, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Typically I upload the file to a Google docs folder and mark it accessible to those who have the link (a dropbox folder or any site would do). I then post the link on the user's talk page. The moment I receive a "done" response, I take the file off the web. Not everyone may want to use email. Churn and change (talk) 15:55, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is solved! Google Docs is an excellent way to share! I have 100+ GB space in Google Docs (I have used only a fraction of it), so never delete anything there (I have not stored your file's copy), so Google Docs is the best choice for me! Amazing speed! However, the article seems to be strangely truncated on the sides which makes it a bit difficult to read. Thanks a lot!!--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 20:30, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is with the original scanned version at Brill Online Journals. I don't see any other scanned version online with my institutional subscription. You can either wait for somebody to manually scan a paper copy, or just fill in the missing letters at the edges (I think that can be done). The resource exchange was very helpful on a previous request, that helped a lot for writing this article. I now started to write about another rebellion and would need everything (ca. 10 pages) on the Fujiwara no Nakamaro Rebellion from this book. Google books does not show much, but I believe the relevant pages would start on page 69 and go at least to page 75, but the index also mentions page 108. Thanks, Ivo for spotting this. I've had a look, and that's him, but unfortunately his dad's obit doesn't carry enough information about the son for "creating-an-article" purposes. I don't know if George Strong was ever elected mayor of anything.... - Nunh-huh 15:52, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is this George G. Strong a musician (the guy in this article)? Or can you tell me a bit what you do know about him? It would help with my search. Key to the city 09:26, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nunh-huh responded on my talk page with this:

Yes, George Gould Strong was the guy depicted in the musical Grey Gardens. Basically, I know this: he was born 21 January 1910 in East Hampton, New York, the son of John Young Strong and Fannie (Baker) Strong, growing up in a house on Amagansett Road. He lived for a time in Paris, and in New York City at 725 Lexington Avenue, probably after he lived at Grey Gardens. He was, as depicted in the musical, the personal accompanist of Edith Beale; he was also an accompanist in Paris and New York, and is said to have had a radio show in New York. Though the musical depicts him as gay, it's not that clear that's actually true, and it's certainly not true that he committed suicide (except metaphorically); he died, apparently about 1964 in Southampton Hospital in Southampton, Long Island, the cause of death apparently being gastrointestinal hemorrhage from drinking, complicated by the fact that he had become a Christian Scientist (which may be something he picked up from Mrs. Beale). I wanted especially to firm up his date of death (the 1964 is an estimate based on someone's recollection that he died when she was 12), which is probably only possible if his obituary can be located in the Southampton Bee or Easthampton Star or one of the other local papers. - Nunh-huh 21:10, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

I did some research, but I got to admid that this one is out of my league. I hope an American helps you with this request. But I thought I post the answer anyway, maybe it helps other researchers. Key to the city 09:40, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Collected works of Sir. Henry Vane the younger edit

I am looking for access to the collected works of Sir. Henry Vane the younger.

Where in the State of Washington can I obtain access?

I believe a collection was donated to Harvard and Cornell University by President of Harvard, Jared Sparks in the 1840s as a public trust. However, repeated requests to Harvard have not gotten a response.

Rob Miles bridgexplorer@gmail.com

(Added by User:Bridgexplorer to Henry Vane prefix:Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request/Filled requests.)

Searching Hollis by author for "Vane, Henry, Sir, 1612?-1662" (the "official" version of his name according to the Library of Congress "Authorities" database) shows up a considerable number of works. It appears they catalogued them individually, rather than as a single "collected works" entry. Perhaps you can narrow down what specific work you are looking for. Searching WorldCat also has many finds, some of which are available online. Searching the Internet Archive has many scanned texts which may help. I suspect that you refer to this one, edited by Jared Sparks. Annexed at pp.401-403 therein is found the list of all twenty five published works which Sparks understood Vane to have authored. Lepidoptera of Greenland edit

  Resolved

I am, from time to time, working on creating lists of Lepidoptera species by country. A lot are done (for those interested, see my sandbox User:Ruigeroeland/Sandbox3 for the progress). To make a list for Greenland, I am looking for access to the following publications, especially the first one. Please note, that I only need the names of the species (including the species authority), so if this publication is not available digitally and someone would be willing to scan it, please only scan the list of species which is probably included, although I am not sure (it seems the publication includes 52 species whereof 5 butterflies):

  • "The Lepidoptera of Greenland", Wolff, N.L., Meddelelser om Grønland. 159 : 11, C.A.Reitzels Forlag, Copenhagen. 1964. 74 pp plus b/w 21 plates, distribution maps to all species.
  • The Lepidoptera of Greenland; Some Geographic Considerations, J. A. Downes, The Canadian Entomologist, 1966, 98(11): 1135-1144, 10.4039/Ent981135-11, [47]
  • Observations on Lepidoptera in south and southwest Greenland, [48]

Thanks in advance! Ruigeroeland (talk) 19:25, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll send the Canadian Entomologist one (though is it free?) and I should be able to get the third article, which is in Entomologiske Meddelelser, though the library where it's at is being reorganised. —innotata 21:17, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Test screening edit

  Resolved

For Test screening, I'm looking for the actual quote and page number which supports this claim:

"According to Adam West's book Back to the Batcave, the initial test screenings for the 1960s Batman television series were so poorly received that, based on the reactions of the test audience, the evaluation cards were never actually read, and were simply shredded before word could get out."

A casual snapshot of the page(s) would be helpful, but no biggie. --Lexein (talk) 04:50, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ritwik Ghatak: Cinema and I edit

  Resolved
  • Need it for: Ritwik Ghatak article.
  • Work: Section expansion, sub-article (planned)
  • Book details" Ghatak, Ritwik (1987). Cinema and I. Ritwik Memorial Trust ISBN: N.A.

The book is available here: http(colon)//www.4shared.com/office/iP0KA15p/ritwik_ghatak_-_cinema_and_i.html (4shared link is blacklisted, replace the "colon"). I downloaded it once. I do not have the copy now. There are some 70 or so pages in that book. They have scanned the book and surprisingly the size of this file is 130+ MB. In my slow internet (now) it is impossible to download a 130 MB file (that's also for a book which has only 70/80 pages). A smaller file will be very helpful! --Tito Dutta (talk) 14:30, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Which pages do you need? It is a 149-page book. There is no official online version of the book I can find; the version I can see is a private copy. I can get you scanned versions of specific pages or chapters, which should be just a few megabytes in size. Churn and change (talk) 15:48, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is difficult to say, let me try to explain- my minimal requisite is at least one or two comment(s) of Ghatak on film and life (so it should be less than 1 page). In the book they have included many interviews with the original publication source at the end of the book. I have just started this section Ritwik_Ghatak#Ideology, I'll expand this using Google Books material/sources. But, I want to add something like "In an interview in 19XY, Ghatak explained his ideals on filmmaking– "..................................." (reference).
If you can collect one or two quote(s) that'll be excellent. You can also go ahead and add that in the article Ritwik_Ghatak#Ideology. In that case I don't need the book or pages too. You don't need to read the whole book, read two three pages of interviews, you'll get some material, in almost all his interviews he talked about human struggle, pain and suffering and responsibility of film towards humanity etc.
I wanted to expand basic details (crew, cast) of his films. The book has a long list. But, that's not possible without reading the whole book. So, I am leaving that now.--Tito Dutta (talk) 16:29, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And if that file is private/locked, you can get the same file from web too. I clearly remember it downloading from web (though a long back) I'll try giving a second link if that does not work. --Tito Dutta (talk) 16:31, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The "Daily Iowan" is University of Iowa's student paper. Their archives can be searched at [80]. The archives of the "Cedar Rapids Gazette" can be searched here. If you get any hits and need the newspaper for a specific day, let me know. The Iowa City Press-Citizen has searchable archives here; the search box at the top allows you to search the archives specifically. Churn and change (talk) 19:58, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the links! Unfortunately was unable to find anything in the paper's online archives. It's possible the Gazette and Press-Citizen have older archives in commercial databases like NewsBank but I don't have access. I searched ProQuest and GALE with no luck. Should be an easy search "Noggin" and "Tom Hunter". -- Green Cardamom (talk) 20:54, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I found some references in the Cedar Gazette and have sent you the link. NewsBank has only post-1992 archives of the Cedar Gazette, and the two stories I found are from that era. One is a profile, and the other a trivial mention. Also, as per this [81] the guy has an account on WikiCommons, and you could contact him there asking for the exact dates of articles covering him. Oceana Law edit

  Resolved

Does anyone have access to the collection of constitution provided by Oceana Law?--Antemister (talk) 17:15, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be referring to this; my library doesn't appear to have access, though I was able to find a Constitution Finder from the University of Richmond that I can access. Perhaps they have what you're looking for; you could search it yourself, or if you don't have access (I can't tell if it's subscription-only or not), I can try to locate it.
Whether through this database or the one you initially indicated, it will help if you can indicate what document(s) you are specifically looking for. Robert Skyhawk (T C) 02:12, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can access the "Constitutions of the countries of the world" database by Oceana Law but I have to walk over to the law library to do it.GabrielF (talk) 20:31, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, do you have access to the online version? "Constitutions of the countries of the world" is a periodical (I have access to newer issues of it from about 1990 on) Do not digitalize stuff which does already exist online. (I just want to publish such texts, which are usually in the PD, on Commons and/or other online collections of constitutions.)--Antemister (talk) 19:52, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think I have access to the online version but I would have to be using a law school IP address. GabrielF (talk) 23:06, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, OK. Can you download the historic constitutions of the Yemen? The relevant issues are 4/78, 6/89, 8/82 and 3/86 (have a table of contents), the other ones are already available online.--Antemister (talk) 21:35, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a version that just contains the sketch [87]. If you download it to your computer and open it with a PDF reader you can increase the text size to make it more readable. Any change of someone finding a copy of Owen, Hugh (1991). "Eastman's Royal Naval Academy Southsea". Mariner's Mirror. 77. Society for Nautical Research: 379–87. ? I can see a fraction of one page in GBooks snippet view, and the thing seems not to be otherwise online. A library job, I reckon, and that makes it a non-starter for me. - Sitush (talk) 10:38, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The aticle is aviavble behind paywall here [97].You have to find some mmber of the Society to get your the article.--Shrike (talk)/WP:RX 11:03, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I meant to mention that. FWIW, I have asked at WP:SHIPS - suggestions regarding other viable venues for appeal would be welcome. - Sitush (talk) 07:21, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

1963 CS Article on "Dorothy 6" at Duquesne edit

  Resolved

Hi all, I was keen on this resource here [109] however any news article that lists the overall cost and dimensions of from what I am reading was the "world's largest steel producing blast furnace from 1963-1967" is appreciated, again specifically looking for the specs and pricetag. It was a U.S. Steel plant in Duquesne, Pennsylvania and apparently they name each blast furnace (similar to naming a boat etc.) this one was "Dorothy 6" or "Dorothy Six". Did the google news search and customized the dates but I am hitting paywalls, there also seems to be a less descriptive NYT but any news article will do that describes $ and dimensions, also very important is date or projected date of completion or operation if listed. Thanks again! Market St.⧏ ⧐ Diamond Way 07:56, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've got an article from the 1973 New Pittsburgh Courier that is about the 10th anniversary of the plant and has the date it was "blown in" (January 23, 1963) with construction started in 1960. Please enable email under preferences so that I can send it to you. GabrielF (talk) 19:55, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
All set, let me know if there any other complications. Thanks much! Market St.⧏ ⧐ Diamond Way 10:11, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've sent the New Pittsburgh Courier article via email. There are some other articles from the 1980s about the plant's closing that I can send if you want but I didn't see anything that specifically referred to the cost and dimensions of the plant. I'll keep looking. GabrielF (talk) 16:16, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've also sent an AP article published in the NYTimes in 1960 about plans for construction of a new furnace at Duquesne. The article doesn't explicitly say that this furnace is #6 or Dorothy but the dates match the New Pittsburgh Courier article. The AP article gives the cost of construction at $20 million to $30 million and some information on dimensions "28-foot-hearth blast furnace" (I don't know what that means exactly). GabrielF (talk) 18:02, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great appreciation! This answers it thanks again and happy holidays! Market St.⧏ ⧐ Diamond Way 01:25, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks in advance. --Merlinme (talk) 10:37, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks. Can you also help please with: Gul A. Russell, "Emergence of Physiological Optics", in Morelon, Régis; Rashed, Roshdi (1996), Encyclopedia of the History of Arabic Science, 2, Routledge, ISBN 0-415-12410-7 --Merlinme (talk) 11:41, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The preview is here [114] if you missing some specific pages I may able to send it to you.--Shrike (talk)/WP:RX 12:14, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. The exact page references are p.689, p. 691, and pp. 695-698. I think the page references refer to this edition, which can be seen in google books: [115] It would be nice to read the whole article, but the only referenced pages which is are missing from the preview are 695 and 697. The reference to page 689 is immediately after the missing pages 687 and 688, and quite hard to understand without the context, so in an ideal world I would like pp. 687-688, 695 and 697. If you could get a copy of those pages it would be much appreciated. --Merlinme (talk) 17:03, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
