Template:Sin bin (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

This template is redundant to {{yel}}. The duration of a sin-binning is constant within a sport, so the time at which the player was sent to the sin bin should suffice. Extenuating circumstances may cause a player to remain off the field of play for an extra few seconds, but otherwise the time at which the player returns should be obvious by the context of the sport. I propose that all instances of {{sin bin}} are replaced with {{yel}} and that {{sin bin}} be deleted. – PeeJay 22:21, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sin bin times may change over the history of a sport (don't know if it's happened before, but it may happen in the future). Having the extra info upfront can be helpful, so I don't think it's worth deleting. ed g2stalk 07:54, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Even if they do change, the length of the sin-binning can be taken from context. The only reason it might be any different is if something happens to prevent them coming back on for an extra few seconds. – PeeJay 17:21, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If for example two articles referred to games in 2008 and 2015 when the sin binning time may have changed, one would have to know when the rule changed in order to compare the stats for the two games. For people interested in the events of a particular match, but not extensively knowledgeable about the sport this would cause confusion. I don't see any particular harm in including this small amount of redundancy. ed g2stalk 09:52, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I should also mention the fact that, when sin-binnings run past the end of the game, we have to put the sin-bin end time as 80 minutes, which is incorrect. – PeeJay 08:57, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, the length of a sin-binning in different sports may vary and users should not be expected to know them all. Stifle (talk) 10:23, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uses a copyrighted logo (which has improper copyright tags, but that's another issue) and is used to insert a person's Japan Professional Bowling Association member number, something which can be done with text and without using a copyrighted logo. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:11, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This template is useless. Why do we have a template about a sub region when its included in its metropolitan template, Template:Inland Empire. As far as I know its not even used. itzzHouse1090duhh (talk) 01:33, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template has been entirely superseded by the DISPLAYTITLE magic word, which can now handle superscripts and subscripts in titles without trouble. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:57, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
