This is mainly a housekeeping nom. This template has been deprecated by the much more versatile {{Infobox Ship Begin/doc}}. It is no longer used on articles as all uses have been updated. Thanks. Woody (talk) 08:49, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Talkback (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

I've always seen this template around. Honestly though, I don't really see the point of it. They say it's to point out if there's a new message at another page, but you can just as easily post the reply there (which I don't find cumbersome at all, as you can put the reply on both your talk pages if needed). Plus, if you need to keep everything on one page, the person should naturally know to check the other user talk page to see if there's a reply, or if they usually reply on their talk page. Lastly, we already have something similar. It's the "You have new messages" orange bar that pops up when they post on your talk page. It just looks like a waste of server space to me. . • Keep - I have seen it around too, but i think it would be better to keep. I like it :D - ha only joking! Seriously though, i can see the point of it. Its just a message to let them know its all being kept on one page. Definately keep ← κεηηε∂γ (talk) (secret) 08:13, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Different people have different preferences on how to handle their messages and replies. Some want to consolidate their communication to one page and believe that copying a message to both talk pages is cumbersome. One can indeed leave a short reply to link their own talk page, but this template saves typing, which is what templates are for. EdokterTalk 10:21, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Different users have different preferences as to how they communicate with one another; this just helps fix a compatibility problem between some of them. Supposedly, Extension:LiquidThreads will fix the problem better, but we don't have that yet. Gavia immer (talk) 16:12, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Previous TFD ended in Keep--so too this TFD should end as Keep. 21655 ωhατ δo γoυ ωαητ? 17:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The nom doesn't see a reason to use the template, fine, but I don't believe that's a good reason by itself to have a template deleted. Very often such templates are only of use to some and not all. And ironically, this discussion will likely take up more server space than the template itself. I don't mean to sound like I'm attacking the nom or anything, since there's nothing wrong with a good-faith TFD nomination, but it's something to think about for the future. -- Ned Scott 05:34, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. I do like it, but as mentioned above there are sound policy reasons to keep it as well. Clearly it's of use to some, as even the nom acknowledges seeing it in use. The bottom line is it serves, however imperfectly, to facillitate communication between editors, which is certainly to be encouraged. Xymmax (talk) 12:31, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strong Keep. Very handy to use and very helpful template. 84.13.214.118 (talk) 18:43, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I was actually tempted to TfD this myself: why do we need a template to inform people that they have been given a response on someone else's talk page? A hand-typed note to inform someone is just fine: a template is annoying and unnecessary. Acalamari 19:13, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - while annoying to some, many have used it and seen it as helpful. --Shruti14 t c s 01:57, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I really don't like this template. So annoying!. MBisanz talk 00:52, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
