Template:DC Crisis Anthology edit

Delete fairly new template for an anthology that does not exist. DC Comics has used the word Crisis many times in many stories. Just as we don't categorize based on a common name, a template revolving around a common name would not be appropriate. Many of the stories listed in the template are connected, but not all. Deciding which of the endless number of DC Comics storylines should be listed would be subjective and/or involve arbitrary inclusion criteria. Comic book storylines are endless. The template creator took a template about the limited series Infinite Crisis, a template that helped readers figure out what tied into that specific story, and has broadened it to the point that it is just a mess that tries to connect too many not-wholly-related events. Who gets to decide to include some of DC many crises but not them all? – Wryspy 03:54, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I shouldn't have extended it to include the other Crisis. I'll think I'll split it into separate ones. In defense though, DC does refers Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis to be a trilogy. Violent-kun 21:05, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I must confess I am confused about the purpose, remit, need and name of this. It appears there is no anthology and connected Crises will be linked together and those links will be put into context. Was there any discussion on this where a need for such a template was discussed? Not everything needs (or we'd be buried under them) and on first inspection I think this is one of them but I'll withhold my decision on this for now, in case I'm overlooking something. Keep I think this template is worth keeping. All of the articles are interconnected and the various crisis storylines have been the major focus of the DC universe for the bast 25 or so years. Also this should only be added to the crisis articles and not start piling up on character pages. DC has done it est to make the crisis storyline as confusing as possible and this seems to keep the WP articles dealing with it easy to navigate. Olympics medal count edit

Template is redundant with a sections of 2004 Summer Olympics and 2006 Winter Olympics, which would be their only uses.

Note that the two have been merged into one debate, as they are pretty much the same template.

Keep – while there's a rationale to delete it, the template allows for a big table to not be coded in. It prevents people from making that summer Olympics page bigger than it needs to with extra medal counts. The full medal counts are supposed to be at the sub-article called 2004 Summer Olympics medal count and the main article doesn't need more medal counts creeping in. Keep. While it may seem a little ridiculous to have all these templates laying around, it definitely goes a long way to ensure that coding isn't screwed up or that if it is needed on other pages, it can be quickly copied. As well, only one page, this one, would have to be changed to accommodate for a change in medals, which is definitely useful for ongoing games. Delete - those Games are over, so the original usage for these templates is no longer present. Specifically, the idea was to consolidate updates into one place to maintain consistency for multiple transclusions while they were current events. Now that they are no longer current events, these tables are no longer transcluded onto multiple pages (In the news, etc.) so they can be safely deleted. Andrwsc 16:47, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
