Wikipedia:WikiProject Skateboarding/Notability
Welcome to the development space for members of WikiProject Skateboarding and their guests with regard to the establishment of notability criteria for skateboarding related articles. |
The members of WikiProject Skateboarding are currently discussing potential skateboarding-specific notability criteria that it is envisaged will sit under WP:NSPORTS as a criteria specific to skateboarders and skateboarder BLPs in particular. Once criteria for skateboarders has been established, the project may seek to move on to criteria for companies and events as sub-criteria of WP:CORPDEPTH and WP:EVENT respectively.
This space will contain the current working draft (which can be edited by anyone on the basis of discussion on the talk page for this working space). Please feel free to contribute to the discussion which will include appropriate Requests for Comment as the development process progresses.
Draft criteria
editSkateboarders competing at the highest level of international competition are not necessarily "professional" skaters, but nor are they necessarily "amateurs" as skateboarders are rarely paid specifically to compete. Instead, professionals are those who have reached a level of sponsorship that allows them to skateboard without additional income. As such, the notability of skateboarders is not based on professional or amateur status but the following criteria:
Notability for skateboarders:
editSkateboarders are presumed notable if they:
- Have received significant coverage in multiple reliable sources (per the general notability guidelines and WP:BASIC)
Notability for persons associated with skateboarding:
editPersons associated with skateboarding are presumed notable if they:
- Have received significant coverage in multiple reliable sources (per the general notability guidelines and WP:BASIC)
