    • FYI it is called a spathe. I think that the image you link to is a different species (Peace lily being a generic name for Spathiphyllum in some cases). The lines visible in the spathe there were not present to any significant degree in the species I photographed. http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/5203/spathiphyllumcochlearis.jpg is a rather extreme highlight reduction.       • Fair enough, admittedly I was thinking of more prominently-veined examples I've seen. They're notoriously difficult subjects needing very careful lighting to avoid what you have here IMO, a white shape on a green ground. That's maybe a tad harsh given the effort you've put into focussing and the particular example you chose, but the effect is reinforced by composition and shooting angle. --mikaultalk 11:24, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
