Original - Adansonia grandidieri, or Grandidier's Baobab, is endemic to Madagascar, and classified as endangered. It is the most striking and well-known of the baobabs of that island. Pictured is a specimen near Morondava.
Reason
These trees are a spectacular sight, and this one offers good resolution and other photographic qualities. Very good at 1200 [1], still mighty good at 1600 [2] and drops off a bit at full size. It would be only the second tree we'd have in featured picture form at this point in time.
