This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Japan. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Japan|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Japan. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

This lacks WP:SIGCOV even the article knows it limited information has surfaced online. (My initial !vote above is about Zen-chan Tsū-chan). I hadn't seen this was a bundled nom when I !voted through the assisted script. Procedural keep. These series have very little in common. And it's hard to discuss and improve the 3 at the same time without long tedious explanations and comments about what precisely is relevant to each case. -My, oh my! I would like to see some way to keep the content, and suggest a merge to Fuji Television. For the ones which are made by Fuji, which doesn't include Zen-chan (please, please, don't do combined nominations of disparate articles!). Not sure about Zen-chan, as like @Mushy Yank this came up as a single article for me and I hadn't given it any thought before starting this comment
On Pinch to Punch it's unfortunate that there is so little secondary material out there although it seems even the primary material has been lost. This attests to its importance in the context of the development of Anime. This article could be perfectly happy as a stub, verified by what little information is out there, but it's hard to make a case for IAR on this. Oblivy (talk) 07:09, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The issue with developing these articles would be our inability to access archives which would have information about an anime series from 50 years ago. Hard to imagine that Pinch and Punch, a series with 156 episodes airing on a national TV channel, wouldn't be notable with access to the correct archives. If someone is interested, perhaps Fuji or the National Film Archive of Japan can help? I would personally either keep or merge the articles at a minimum. Nagoya Bunri University

The only source is a dead link. The article was created when Wikipedia was growing rapidly and had different standards. Private universities must now show evidence of passing WP:NCORP. Weak delete Took a bit of digging but I managed to find an archived version of the ref [1], but it's to the university's own website. Otherwise I couldn't find anything else, though the reason I'm not strongly for deletion because all too often I've seen cases where no sources for something were found just because we're limited in our search results, although jawiki doesn't have anything but that source either [2]. ‍Relativity ⚡️ 20:01, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You can say there are no newspaper articles, for example, but a university isn’t a kind of a thing that is written about frequently in news media. But that doesn’t mean the university is not notable. It is often said a university is inherently notable except when it’s not a real university. WP:3 is an essay. WP:NACTOR, however, is a guideline. She passes easily wih multiple significant roles in notable productions.

@Mushy Yank: As an aside. WP:THREE is consensus policy since the summer when it was agreed during an RFA that is valid method to prove and Afd nomination notable. I wasn't sure about the subject. Keep: looks notable enough to me, and iI see sources in the History section. A redirect to the list of diplomatic missions of Japan or to Uk-Jp relations is totally warranted anyway. But I am really not convinced by the rationale of this nomination (especially when the majority of the sources are NOT about the ambassadors). -My, oh my! Keep - I've added a few sources which should take this mission over the GNG and see plenty more. Appears that there was no WP:BEFORE search including Japanese sources. A short search shows there should be a merge and redirect to Otaku no Seiza: An Adventure in the Otaku Galaxy. The group was based on/represented the characters in the game. There are also sources in Japanese, such as an article in Kinema junpō; I don't know if adding something like that is really necessary for a merge, but WP:BEFORE would also indicate searching for Japanese sources in this case.
