Quick info on Wikis, etc

I saw your comments on the talk pages, and thought it would be helpful to give you an answer here. In general, links to wikis should be avoided per WP:EL#AVOID. You'll notice that WP:EL also lists what should be linked and what might be under certain circumstances.

Also, you should probably read WP:USERNAME and WP:COI. You're doing a great job of asking questions on article talk pages first, but your username may attract attention once you edit a Reiki-related article. --Ronz (talk) 04:11, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: International House of Reiki

Hi - I'm not in a hurry to get rid of the article on International House of Reiki; I understand it can take some time to get used to the encyclopedia's policies and rules, and to tune up an article, and I don't want to jump on the article preciptately.

Here's what I would suggest: take a look at the notability guidelines for organizations and companies. They're our guide to what is "encyclopedic" and what is not. They're also a bit subjective, but the thrust of them is usually that a company or organization needs to be the subject of significant coverage in indepdedent, reliable third-party sources in order to be notable. This helps us ensure that we can create a truly neutral, encyclopedic article rather than just rehashing a company's promotional material.

See what you can find in terms of third-party references and sources on the International House of Reiki. Has it been the subject of any newspaper or press coverage? Are there any articles on reiki in general which note its particular approach? Basically, any independent reference to the organization beyond self-published websites is helpful in this regard. No content in Category:Mikao Usui
