Miss Chinese International 2012
editI highly doubt that you are an "expert" in the Miss Chinese International Pageant. The trivia written by the unknown user is verifiable and correct. Sounds interesting to me, shameful of you to remove the trivia at your own desperate need for control over Wiki....
Rather than criticizing others and removing information which can be proved by looking into the past results on Wiki, WHY NOT come up with ways to source the information rather than removing it?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.105.46.51 (talk) 22:08, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- No, I never claimed to be an "expert" of Miss Chinese International Pageant, nor have I a "desperate need to control over Wiki" as you so claim. The reasons why I have been reverting the unsourced trivia section are very straightforward: 1) Trivia sections should be avoided and incorporated into the article itself. (See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Trivia sections) The section has been tagged for almost a month now. Just because the trivia "sounds interesting" does not mean it is "encyclopedia material". 2) The trivia is not sourced. And before you argue that you can do so by looking on past results on their respective Wikipedia articles, they STILL NEED TO BE CITED by VERIFIABLE external sources. I do not disagree with the factual quality of the trivia, but without a sourced attached, I had to send it packing. If you noticed, there are trivia points that ARE sourced which are kept in the article. I am not deleting trivia for the sake of deleting. If you are interested in preserving the points in the article, why not contribute positively by helping to find the sources for them before reverting them back into the article rather than coming onto my talkpage and attacking me personally. Please take a gander at Wikipedia:No personal attacks for more details on that. Thank you. Music + Pageants (talk) 22:49, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- Music + Pageants is completely right here. Do not continue to add this unsourced trivia to the page. – GorillaWarfare (talk) 23:36, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Miss Hong Kong Logo.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Miss Hong Kong Logo.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 02:42, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:NatalieWong.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:NatalieWong.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:56, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Chinese Music History
editHi, I found via the participants list of WikiProject Chinese language entertainment. I myself have worked on the article for Chinese rock a few times in the past and am dedicated to present Chinese music online to those that don't speak Chinese, i.e. 5/6 of the world.
As you can see from my user page, I am also one of the founding members of Rock in China (which currently expanded to Music-China.org). Our community is also a Mediawiki-based system solely focussed on Chinese music with one major difference: Whereas Wikipedia would like to be an encyclopedia with the aim to capture humankind's knowledge in brief, short and destinctive articles, it is our aim to present Chinese music in all its details and as much information as possible. As we like to say, we are preparing the reference page that Wikipedia is linking to. You can see the page for Cui Jian as example where this is implemented.
The main reason I am writing to you is that we have started a new project at Music-China.org called 'Chinese Music History' during which we want to document the complete history of Chinese music in all its details and cross-reference it to Wikipedia, i.e. work on both platforms according to each platforms' aims.
I would like to invite you, as member of the WikiProject Chinese language entertainment to help us build up both wikis, Wikipedia and Music-China.org. Please feel free to read more about us and the the project.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Geri Halliwell Desire DVD Cover.jpg)
editThanks for uploading File:Geri Halliwell Desire DVD Cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 15:54, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New 10,000 Challenge for Canada
editHi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
The article Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
A WP:PROMO page on an unremarkable pageant. Article is full of trivia and is entirely self-cited. Significant RS coverage not found.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. K.e.coffman (talk) 00:04, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
Nomination of Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant for deletion
editA discussion is taking place as to whether the article Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. K.e.coffman (talk) 16:48, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
