There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:57, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

I would like to provide information on Saratoga County, Saratoga's Chambers of Commerces, tourism and convention bureau and the economic development ecosystem within the county. This will be an informative, encyclopedia article. Although, the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership is a government entity my last article seemed to be viewed as an advertisement.

Decline reason:

Inappropriate username and your proposed edits are in violation of WP:PROMO. Yamla (talk) 15:54, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Would like to be able to create an unbiased article showcasing Saratoga County economy including the Chamber's of Commerces, Tourism and Convention Bureau as well as the 2 Economic Development entities in Saratoga County. This will be unbiased and written from an objective viewpoint in order to inform the public of what the Economy is made up of in Saratoga County.

Decline reason:

1) That's still the name of your organization - try one that doesn't have either "Saratoga" or "Partnership" in it.

2) Wikipedia is not for "showcasing" anything, it's an encyclopedia.

3) You cannot use Wikipedia as an outlet for your business pursuits. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:49, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Looking to provide an informative article about Saratoga County, the 2 Chamber of Commerces and the Tourism and Convention bureau. I believe there is a lot of information that can be written in an unbiased article to inform all Wikipedia users interested in Saratoga County.

Decline reason:

We already have an informative article about Saratoga County, New York. It's not promotional; we don't do that. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 15:59, 1 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock-spamun|Econ866|I would like to add to the 'Economy' section of the article called Saratoga County, New York by discussing the economic development entities and how the economy works in Saratoga. This would be a paragraph entry, written in an informative and unbiased manner. There is only 1 paragraph in the economy section right now I think this information could help the article as a whole. Thanks.}}

Here's a suggestion. How about you create your suggested new version of the "Economy" section for the Saratoga County, New York article here on this talk page. And then, rather than an unfruitful back-and-forth based on what you might or might not do, a reviewing admin can see your proposed addition in finished form? If you like the idea, just start a new section below, copy the existing section from the article (noting in the edit summary that you copied it from Saratoga County, New York), and then go ahead and show us how you want to improve it? (Oh, and your suggested new name is fine, so I've done the rename. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:09, 1 June 2016 (UTC))Reply

Proposed addition to 'Economy' of Saratoga County, New York edit

The below section is copied from Saratoga County, New York.

Tech Valley[edit] Main article: Tech Valley

The logo of the environmentally sustainable Luther Forest Technology Campus, housing the GlobalFoundries Fab8 campus in Malta, Saratoga County, within Tech Valley. Since the 2000s, the economy of Saratoga County and the surrounding Capital District has been redirected toward high technology. Tech Valley is a marketing name for the eastern part of New York State, encompassing Saratoga County, the Capital District, and the Hudson Valley.[19] Originated in 1998 to promote the greater Albany area as a high-tech competitor to regions such as Silicon Valley and Boston, it has since grown to represent the counties in the Capital District and extending to IBM's Westchester County plants in the south and the Canadian border to the north. The area's high technology ecosystem is supported by technologically focused academic institutions including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute.[6] Tech Valley encompasses 19 counties straddling both sides of the Adirondack Northway and the New York Thruway,[19] and with heavy state taxpayer subsidy, has experienced significant growth in the computer hardware side of the high-technology industry, with great strides in the nanotechnology sector, digital electronics design, and water- and electricity-dependent integrated microchip circuit manufacturing,[4] involving companies including GlobalFoundries in Malta and others.[5][6][20]

Proposed addition: In 2014 the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership was named the main point of contact for economic development of all businesses in Saratoga County, including Tech Valley businesses including GlobalFoundries.

Comments on the above edit

Can you please say who named the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership as the main point of contact, provide a reliable source (see WP:RS) to support it, and explain why GlobalFoundries should be singled out. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:01, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

I should add that I see problematic promotional-style wording in the existing section, which is of course not your doing, but that can be addressed in due course. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:03, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed addition edit

Proposed addition: In 2014 the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership was named the official economic development organization for Saratoga County by the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors' Economic Development Committee (Yusko). The Partnership will capitalize on the investment made in Tech Valley. In 2016 the Partnership was named the chief marketing agent of Luther Forest Technology Campus.

Here's your online link to that article: [1]. There's no source given for last sentence; one will be needed. The second to last sentence - what does that mean? To me, to capitalize on something means to make money on it, or something like that; is the Partnership designed to make money on the investment? --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 17:05, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
