Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. Fyldeman (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Fyldeman is simply descriptive of where I live - like saying, for example "Londoner". It does *not* describe "a group, organization or website" as suggested

Accept reason:

@Vanjagenije: Could you tell us what this organisation is? I can't find it on Google. Peridon (talk) 11:48, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
[edit conflict]Vanjagenije, on first blush, this claim appears legitimate. I know very little about fracking or about that area, though, so may well have missed something. Comment? --Yamla (talk) 11:49, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Vanjagenije: @Peridon: @Yamla: There is an entry for this organisation in Wikipedia: Refracktion. Whichever name this person uses, there needs to be a clear statement on their user page stating their involvement with this organisation and with every comment/edit they might make in future as per ways for advocates to participate' and other WP:COI guidelines. Luther Blissetts (talk) 12:23, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Vanjagenije: @Peridon: @Yamla: Correct - which is why I have not edited pages but merely commented in a talk page, and why I chose the original name so any COI was clear. Will add a reference to Refracktion in my page a soon as unblocked (I can't do it currently due to block). Please then unblock as I think am acting within guidelines. Also I presume OK not to have to state Refracktion involvement on any edits on non related topics?
  • This editor was blocked for having the username User:Refraktion, and that was a good block. But since then he's been renamed to User:Fyldeman. The username was the only reason for the (soft) block, and he could have simply created User:Fyldeman as a new account without breaking any rules. Any conflict of interest with the company Refracktion should be disclosed, of course, but I don't see that as a reason to delay the lifting of a block which was only for a username violation now that the violation has been rectified. @Boing! said Zebedee: Thank you - just to clarify- Refracktion is not a company - it is an informational website
Ah, thanks. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:24, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Fyldeman, you have been unblocked. You are correct that you should refrain from editing articles directly but instead, suggest edits on the article's talk page. Make sure when doing so, you disclose your WP:COI. If you are editing an unrelated article (say, goat), you have no conflict of interest there, so there'd be nothing to disclose. If this is at all unclear, please ask for clarification. --Yamla (talk) 14:08, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Yamla: Many thanks - all clear - the only thing that isn't clear is why the second block was applied given that AFAICT I had not contravened any Wiki guidelines with it
Your block log shows only one block, which was because of your original username. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:24, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps but originally Refracktion was blocked and then Fyldeman. Fyldeman (talk) 14:42, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Fyldeman:, There was only ever one (soft) block, because of your name corresponding to an organisation. Because all you did was change your name, as per the options available to you, the block remained after your name change (and there is now a redirect from your old name to your new name). Hope that's clearer to you. Thanks for declaring your COI and don't forget to declare this on related article talk pages when suggesting edits or contributing to related discussions. @LutherBlissetts: Ah OK - thank you and to the other admins for your time and consideration Fyldeman (talk) - editor/author of the anti-fracking Refracktion website (talk) 16:07, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think I understand all that. I'm not worrying now it seems to be sorted out. Someone understands it. Peridon (talk) 17:02, 23 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have just worked out how to remove the hidden category for indef block. That's why the edit below this in History is labelled 'test'. Peridon (talk) 20:23, 24 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
There's always something new to learn in Wikipedia, Peridon! I'm still making my way through the guidelines (and I've been here for 10 years)! Luther Blissetts (talk) 20:31, 24 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
