Admin impersonation

edit

Hello. There is currently a thread on AN/I, the administrator's noticeboard, about your impersonation as an administrator. Could you please explain this edit? Thanks, neuro(talk) 04:06, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Additionally, I have removed the administrator category as well as the barnstars off of your user page which you didn't earn. Please do not restore them, either way (talk) 04:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh I thought I earned the Admisistrator thing and Barn stars. I just joined. I Don't understand how WIKIPEDIA works yet. How Do you even become an Administrator anyway? --MissPiggyLove (talk) 04:39, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

How did you think you earned it? Administrative permissions and tools are requested here. neuro(talk) 04:42, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Barnstars usually "appear" on your talk page - that's this page - because another user sees your edits are exceptionally helpful to the project and he gives you one. See WP:AWARDS for details. Barnstars aren't to be handed out like candy. Well, you can if you want to but it only cheapens them "oh, you got a barnstar from Davidwr, big deal, he gives out a dozen of those every day." In reality, I've given out less than a dozen in 2 years. Access to admin tools is not for the inexperienced, and it's definitely not handed out like candy. If you have less than 6 months and 2000 edits, and you don't have some special circumstance like being an administrator on another-language Wikipedia, you will almost certainly be told to wait. The reality is even 6 months and 2000 edits is probably not enough, double that is a good starting point. I've been on Wikipedia two years and am only now feeling familiar enough with the nooks and crannies of Wikipedia to ask for administrative tools. Besides, the most important tasks at Wikipedia, namely, writing good articles, requires no admin tools whatsoever. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:53, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

RfA for AmericanIdolWatcher

edit

Can I suggest that you don't proceed with this? Given that this user has no contributions, your statement about how great they are is going to look like you are lying. Unusual? Quite TalkQu 16:50, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I got their Username wrong, its americanidolwatcher, and they do have contributions --MissPiggyLove (talk) 18:28, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
