Username concern edit

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (Mika-photography) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is the name of a corporate entity (a web site) rather than a name that represents only you, and therefore may soon be blocked indefinitely unless you change it. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account to use for editing. Thank you. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:42, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hallo, i used to be specialized in Hip Hop photography from 1997 to 2004. I would like to share images of that time with wikipedia users. At that time i signed my images with mika-photography. thats why i like to use the name at Wikipedia as well. My homepage is www.mika-photography.com. if that is really a problem than i must change my name. but i would like to keep it. there is no commercial interest in this. since i am out of music photography. best regards, mika

First off, I want to join other editors in welcoming the contributions you've made here by allowing your pictures to be used in this global project.
Now the bad news: while I certainly sympathize, our rules are pretty firm on this. We appreciate your contributions, but we cannot allow ourselves to be used to advertise a website or a brand name, so I'm reluctantly forced to temporarily block the username which advertises your website and "brand name". The templated message below this hand-written one give the instructions for requesting a change of username to something less promotional. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:51, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of what username you choose. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.

Hallo

and sorry for the trouble.

i have started a new account under the username "mikamote" .

please transfer all the information and files from there user "mika-photography" to the user "mikamote".

thanks and best regards,

mika

I really appreciate your efforts, but if you want to get the credit which you are due for your past contributions, you need to follow the procedures set out in the message above your latest note. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:15, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Formatting of photographs in templates edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for the photos, but unfortunately your edits are not quite in the correct format to display them to their best advantage. Please take a look at this diff, where I hope you can see that all that is required in the template is the name of the file alone, without any extra markup. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could re-edit these pages to fix this: there is a list of your edits here. -- The Anome (talk) 09:04, 7 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

hallo, i changed all the sites that i could. but some sites are different (d&d studios, bobbin garcia...). there is no I image = in the beginning and if i just leave the image name (Bobbito-07.jpg) then the image doesn't show. what to do? best regards, mika

(ps: i am new at this)

Transferring your contributions to a new account edit

Hi Mika. Instead of creating a new account, what you should have done is request a change of username; see WP:CHU/Simple.

However, the transfer you want is still possible, but you must not make any edits from your new account!! If you do, it won't be possible.

What you must now do is request to be unblocked so that you can follow the WP:USURP procedures to usurp the "mikamoto" account you just created by mistake. That will cause your contributions to be transferred. But this is possible ONLY if you have ZERO contributions in the new account.

Let me know if you want to do that and I will unblock you for that purpose. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:05, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Amatulic, sorry for the mistakes i made. please unblock my account "mika-photography", so i can apply for a new username. question: i already uploaded many images from my new account "mikamote". do they just disappear from the wikipedia sites or do i have to take them away myself from all the wikipedia sites? best regards, mika

OK, I have unblocked this account so you can rename it.
However, we can't merge accounts together once you have made contributions from each one. Only accounts with no contributions may be usurped. Therefore, we can't do anything to combine these two accounts together. You should abandon one or the other. The one you abandon can be blocked.
Your choices are these:
What is your choice? ~Amatulić (talk) 18:28, 11 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi , please delete the useraccount mikamote. i will try to rename mika-photography. the new name should be: MikaV thanks for your help. best regards, mika

Hi MikaV, I see your name change went through.
We can't delete accounts that already have contributions. I've blocked it and caused the user page and talk page there to redirect here. That's all I can do.
I hope you enjoy your stay here. And thanks for all your photography contributions! ~Amatulić (talk) 23:47, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Login problems edit

Hi Mika, I like to keep Wikipedia business on Wikipedia, especially if other people have better answers than I can offer. I'll answer your emailed questions to me here.

You asked:

  • which account should i use from now on, please?
    Use this one, MikaV.
  • what happens to the images that i uploaded so far with "mika-photography" and "mikamote"?
Nothing happens to them, they are all kept as contributions in each account, although the contributions from Mika-photography now belong to MikaV, because Mika-photography was renamed to MikaV.
  • i could NOT log in  with my new account name "MikaV", but i could log in with my old name "mika-photography"
I don't understand why. You tried it with an uppercase M and V (MikaV, not mikav)? It is best to ask Nihonjoe, the person who renamed your account. Your username should have changed too, as far as I know. I have left a note at User talk:Nihonjoe#Username change question.
  • i could log in with my old name "mikamote"
Yes you can, but that account is blocked. All you would be able to do from it is edit the talk page.

I am curious also why your login name didn't change. I have asked Nihonjoe to respond here on your talk page. ~Amatulić (talk) 14:43, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

The login name did change (as seen here). You recreated the account on March 13 per this log. As noted above, the username is case sensitive, so you have to login as "MikaV", not "Mikav" or "mikav". You need to make sure you are logged out of the old account, then login using the new "MikaV" username using the same password you had on the old account. Hope that helps.   ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 06:36, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, still not working. can't upload. i think MikaV is still blocked by Amatulic. best regards, mika

The fact that you can edit Nihonjoe's talk page shows that you are not blocked. However, I found an IP address autoblock on your Mikamote account that shouldn't have been there. I just un-did that. Hopefully that fixes things. Please try it again. ~Amatulić (talk) 13:30, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, i can log in with MikaV on the english wikipedia site but not on the german site . when i try to upload from the english site i am redirected to the german site and there i can not log in with MikaV. strange but true. when i uploaded before from the english site i got a simple upload window. now i get a long page with lots of detail questions and when i fill in everything i get redirected to the german site. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:File_Upload_Wizard&?withJS=MediaWiki:FileUploadWizard.js what could that be? if i log in with mikamote then i can upload still with the simple site. thanks for your help y'all, mika

You may need to unify your login to get it to automatically login on dewiki. Click here to do that. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 06:34, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
