Kathryn Feller

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Kathryn Feller, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1336879. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 18:03, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, so I got rid of the IMDB link. You're not mad, right? Coren, I wasn't violating anything on purpose!

Your user page

I want to point out that it's probably not a good idea to advertise your age, full name, and location if you are under 18. If might be a good idea for you to remove at least your age and full name. I could delete your page and restore it without the information so that it can't be found in the history. Do you want me to do that? Leebo T/C 22:54, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not delete it completely, just remove your personal information. Everything else would be restored, and then someone else couldn't look through your history to find the personal info. Leebo T/C 23:01, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

???

edit

A tag has been placed on ???, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how ??? is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:??? saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please feel free to use deletion review, but do not continue to repost the article if it is deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. Hi Kitty. I placed an {{underconstruction}} tag on this article for you. Another user had already removed the speedy deletion recommendation. Please see the article's talk page for some recommendations I'll be writing for you. Into The Fray T/C 03:19, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
We had a similar episode on the Help desk with the Tamao Satou article. See the discussion at:
My advice to you:
  • Create an account on DramaWiki and copy your Moeko Matsushita article there (see Tamao Sato's article there). Do this now, so regardless of the outcome on Wikipedia, your article will still be (relatively) safe somewhere. You can develop the article further on DramaWiki with less risk of deletion than on Wikipedia. Wikipedia has strict requirements for articles, and many other wikis are more lenient about articles in their area of topical specialization. A wiki such as DramaWiki wants more articles whereas Wikipedia likes to delete thousands of articles.
  • Ask User:Kappa to help you with your article (who also started the Tamao Satou article and saved it from deletion). Special:Contributions/Kappa shows many edits to articles relating to Japan.
If you have any further questions, please ask them on the Help desk where dozens of volunteers can help at any time. --Teratornis 03:20, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Check this out on my articles to model after your articles! Goodshoped35110s 03:26, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've added you a usersubpage, User:Kitty53/Moeko_Matsushita, so that you can make changes there and on the article without fear that you might lose your work. Jac roeBlank 03:29, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
It looks like Wiki.ThePPN is similar to DramaWiki - both run the same MediaWiki software that powers Wikipedia, but with less zeal to delete articles in their topics of interest. While I encourage you to keep trying to write articles that are up to Wikipedia's requirements (see: WP:NPOV, WP:NOTABLE, WP:RS, and WP:EIW), you may find editing on one of the "enthusiast" wikis to be less stressful. --Teratornis 03:49, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Your Question

edit

When you are done, you should remove the tag, yes. You might also consider looking for someone who's more familiar with Japanese music (ideally someone who can read Japanese) than I am. I'm far from familiar and most of the articles I could find were in Japanese. Perhaps contacting User:Kappa as Teratornis suggested would be a good idea. You appear to have contacted User:Agüeybaná mistakenly. In the interest of keeping things consistent, let's keep our discussion here, as you have posted requests for help in quite a few places and that means that a lot of folks might be watching this. Into The Fray T/C 04:00, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disregard that. I see why you made the mistake; there's user link at the top of his page that took you to Agüeybaná's talk. In any event, I've left a note for him asking him to look at the discussion here as well as the article and see if he'll be willing to help. Good luck to you. Hey, just wanted to tell you that I've put up some of your many redirects up for discussion at WP:RFD. No offense, of course, but I just think that some of them are kind of unrealistic. I've put up the following ones for discussion:

Feel free to go over and add your input! GlassCobra (Review) 23:17, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but you create quite a lot of redirects that we simply don't need. Of course, it's up to the community to decide, but that's how I feel, at least. I apologize if I've caused any offense. GlassCobra (Review) 23:25, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well like I said, you're more than welcome to go over to WP:RFD and give your reasoning for keeping them. By the way, when you post on my talk page, you don't have to make a new section every time. If it's about the same topic, you can just tack your comment onto the original one, like I'm doing here. I didn't delete your comment, I simply moved it up to join with your first one. RE: RFD Redirects

Hey Kitty, I'm sorry if I offended you by putting your redirects up for discussion; however, I felt that many of them didn't really serve any purpose and were merely taking up space. To be honest, I can't say that I'm really surprised that most of them did end up being deleted. Again, I didn't do any of this as a personal attack on you. Hope we can still be friends. GlassCobra 20:28, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, good to know. By the way, I think I've mentioned this to you before, but you don't have to create a new section every time you write on someone's talk page. Speedy deletion of Gullible

edit

A tag has been placed on Gullible requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Fair use rationale for Image:Squid.GIF

edit

Image:Squid.GIF is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Speedy deletion of Satoko Yamano (seiyu)

edit

A tag has been placed on Satoko Yamano (seiyu) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. SEIYU

edit

I'm sorry to have to break it to you, but I'm the admin responsible for deleting List of seiyū. The deletion was nothing personal and it was not meant to spite the great work you put into compiling the list. It's just that the deletion of a seiyu list was decided in this discussion, this was mainly because all of the relevant actors are already listed at Category:Japanese voice actors. I understand that it can be pretty frustrating to find out that someone deleted your article, that is why it is very important to check the logs and possible previous deletions on every new article. Sometimes you might find that a similar article used to exist and was deleted, redirected, or merged to a different title. Regards, ˉˉanetode╦╩ 01:53, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Kazumi Tanaka

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Kazumi Tanaka, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Kazumi Tanaka seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Kazumi Tanaka, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Some things concerning "deletion" on Wikipedia

edit
  1. Nothing that is "deleted" on Wikipedia is permanently gone, it may always be restored by any administrator.
  2. Articles for deletion is not an automatic death sentence, it is a community discussion in which users say whether and article "stays" or "goes" base on Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

I hope this will help you understand how this works on Wikipedia. VivioFateFan (Talk, Sandbox) 03:06, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit

So this is why I got a random comment at 3:00 am in the morning...

In short, even if I was an admin it wouldn't mater, admins don't have the power to wade in and back one party, none the less in the spirit of WP:agf, I will assist you in this mater.

Firstly you can stop the deletion yourself, just prove that the subject is notable enough for an article, from what I have seen its an article on a voice actor, so unless said person has had some mega roles, (think david hayter as solid snake for example), I doubt its notable, also what I recommend you do now is copy all the text of the article, past it into a user sub page and work on it there so that you have a hard copy.--KerotanSup? Have a nice day :) 03:06, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also I would like to point out that I am pretty sure that you broke Wikipedia:Canvassing quite a few times this morning, I will have to double check on that. Also since I figured that you might not know how to make a sub page, User:Kitty53/User sub-page test just click on that link and you can edit and therefore create a user sub page.
Well you only broke it once in truth, and I am not going to be arse and warn you for it just so I can have a bit of power trip, just keep it in mind for future occasions mmk? :)--KerotanSup? Have a nice day :) 03:15, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
That is not what I mean, what I meant is that anyone can vote in its AFD, and also if you improve the article its less likly going to get deleted.--KerotanLeave Me a Message Have a nice day :) 12:41, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Test

edit

I see you've been having some problems with your articles and the eager new page patrollers. The test page is a very considerate idea, taking the time to prepare an article in your userspace will give you time to polish it up before unleashing it to scrutiny. Here are a few ideas about writing biographies:

  • Keep in mind the advice at Wikipedia:Notability (people)
  • Include information about the subject's achievements, like any professional awards they might have won or any notable roles they might have played.
  • Include references from secondary and tertiary sources that discuss the subject. {{findsources}} & {{findsources2}} are very useful tools for this purpose, they can help you find mentions in news archives and other documented literature.
  • Include a brief biography - if all you have is a list of works then the article basically amounts to a directory entry.

I hope this gives you an insight to what new page patrollers look for in new articles. Don't get discouraged if an article is deleted, your efforts are appreciated. Good luck! ˉˉanetode╦╩ 02:40, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, you have a name, date of birth, and filmography. The article doesn't actually tell you anything about the actor or his accomplishments. If you can find some sources that offer biographical details or critical commentary of his work, then I think it would be a keeper. As it is, I'm not sure there's enough non-list content to justify a Wikipedia entry, sorry :( ˉˉanetode╦╩ 03:15, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for checking. Look at it this way, without any reliable sources that document Ugaki's life, all you are left with is a list. That list is referenced and I have no doubts of its accuracy, but it can't be a proper biography all by itself. You might want to ask for some advice over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga, since I don't have a background in the subject matter. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 06:37, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't, then again, I have a conservative view of inclusion policies on Wikipedia. See what feedback you get from the anime and manga Wikiproject. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 06:55, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Question

edit

Thats a heaping helping of some complex questions. Luckily, a few editors have crafted a pretty good breakdown at Wikipedia:Practical process. Our goal here is to create an encyclopedia, to do that we sometimes have to sacrifice quantity for quality. Editors have different ideas about how to approach this goal, so policies like notability are instituted for the sake of consistency.

You can challenge any deletion you think is unwarranted at deletion review. If an article is tagged for speedy deletion, you can contest its deletion by removing the tag or by requesting a listing at WP:AFD. Even if an article is deleted, it may be possible to salvage the work put into it by transferring its text and revision history to another wiki. Wikia, for instance, hosts hundreds of wikis on just about any topic and has no policy on notability.

Of course if any specific rule prevents you from making this a better encyclopedia, it may be better to ignore it. All the best, ˉˉanetode╦╩ 22:30, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Testing

Kitty, thanks for the note, but I'm afraid that I'm not the best person to review that article. I don't have any background knowledge in the field of Japanese voice actors. Then again, this is a wiki, so I'd like to encourage you to be bold. Create the article and see what happens. If it gets deleted, no biggie, as long as you learned something in the course of making it. Thats just my 2 cents. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 00:54, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Andi Whaley

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Andi Whaley, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Andi Whaley. I checked out what happened with your block on wiktionary, that admin needs to be slapped with a trout. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 04:22, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Atelaes, an en wikt admin. I just wanted to give you a low-down on the reasoning behind the block. Our policy is one of strong avoidance of both misspellings, and redirects. Misspellings create google hits (or something like that, I'm admittedly not terribly tech savvy) and so we try to avoid having entries of any kind for them. And since we distinguish words by spellings, we generally don't have redirects (with a few special exceptions). The blocking admin is a very prolific and capable editor, and we are fortunate to have them around. However, what they have in expertise and productivity, they can sometimes lack in diplomacy. I will admit that I think their block a bit hasty. Unfortunately, they're not on IRC at the moment, and I think it in bad taste to undo your block behind his back, so I'm going to let it stand. I just thought I'd drop you a note letting you know what you did wrong, and hope this experience doesn't sour your taste for en wikt. I'll drop our little welcome on your wikt talk page, as you may find it useful to do a bit of policy reading. Hope tomorrow treats you better than today. Atelaes (talk) 05:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
To say that he is lacking in diplomacy is a tactful way of putting it. From my little escapade today I've noticed that there's a substantial inequity in the leeway allowed to wiktionary admins when compared to their wikipedia counterparts. Thanks, Atelaes, for explaining the reasons behind the block to Kitty53. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 07:10, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Helpme is not for making comments but for questions. But to help you out, the person you contacted might have been on wikibreak. Can you be more specific? Which person?--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 23:56, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well usually people don't like to talk much online here unless it's specific to wikipedia, for the fear of violating wikipedia is not a blog. That's probably the main reason. Or it could be your time zone. For myself, I'm not much of a talkative guy.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 00:33, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean by a counter-part? Are you refering to a doppelganger account?--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 01:00, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's an alternate account made only to hold the name to prevent someone from taking it because it may be used to impersonate him/her. Usually this is done only when someone changes his/her name or when a vandal tries to impersonate someone, gets blocked and the person impersonated wants to take over that account because it's name is similar to his/her own.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 01:10, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

No problem, though you should be wary of changing other people's edits. It's considered bad. Though I don't mind this time.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 01:24, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Senor Fantastico2.JPG

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Senor Fantastico2.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Senor Fantastico2.JPG|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I'm not about to profess his notability, especially with no real bio information or in-line references, but (from my experience) seiyu articles rarely ever get deleted as long as they look like they are going somewhere and are formatted correctly. I've created a ton of seiyu articles in the past, and have had a few of them deleted (but then I just re-created them later anyway), so as long as you know what you're doing, you shouldn't worry.-- 00:23, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

You can try to find sources (e.g. newspaper articles) that mention the actor, and add them to the article.

{{Underconstruction}} is used only in the short term (a few days max) when an editor is in the process of revising the article.

{{helpme|I rescued the article on Yukiko Tamaki from deletion, and saw some barnstars with a band-aid, and another with a helicopter with a star under it. Are their rewards for saving articles from deletion by rescuing it?}}

Hi there! Barnstars are awards that are given to you by other Wikipedians for hard work or a great contribution. They aren't automatically given out - someone has to see a contribution you've made, and think that it's worthy of a barnstar. There was no need to leave another warning on the IP's talk page. A warning was left at the time it occured (and removed by the IP). Leaving it three months later is not appropriate, particularly for an IP which might belong to a different person. Collectonian (talk) 15:06, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

What are sockpuppets?

edit

I have a question. When it has to do with Wikipedia, what are sockpuppets?

When someone is using a sock puppet, it means they are using another account in an inappropriate way, such as to give a false impression of having support for a position, mislead others, or to evade a block. While users are allowed to have alternative accounts, it becomes sock puppetry when they use those additional accounts in a secretive manner and to be disruptive. For an example of sock puppetry:
Editor A gets into an edit war over an article, disagreeing with multiple other editors and violating 3RR. He is blocked by an admin for being disruptive. He makes a new account under a new name to return to the article and continue trying to make the same edits. This new account would be considered a "sock puppet" of his first account (and would be summarily blocked).
Sock puppetry is generally considered a very big offense and can result in very long term to indefinite blocking. For a more detailed discussion, read Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. Hope that helps? Collectonian (talk) 01:39, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's okay. Sometimes I think Wikipedia is a little excessive on the subjective rules, and it can cause problems. I'm not saying you were being excessive. I'm sure just using wikipedia often makes a person subject to all of the subjective rules and it can lead to making people feel crazy! This is from my own experience, even though I don't have much with wikipedia. Too often, I feel, people are reprimanding and criticizing others on the website. I know it has to be a credible encyclopedia and everything, but it goes overboard sometimes. The laws of our countries are generally much more reasonable, but even they are flawed. At any rate, thanks for the smile and I hope you feel better. If something is upsetting you, be active! Exercise, talk to people, etc. Don't let things just sit inside because then they will never get better! 75.85.112.149 (talk) 04:44, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

If I moved the test page after testing it, since there is a message on my test page, I'd bring the whole message with it when I moved it. I'd be turning it into a redirect. Then I'd have to copy and paste the entire message that came with it! Then it would be ridiculous! I just want to create articles! And I do need to test my articles! Just remove the message on your test page right before moving it, and then replace the redirect with the message and the contents of the new article. If you need help doing this, I'm willing to help. As requested, I'm responding here, though in the future, you can always just answer here as I currently have your talk page on my watchlist so I will know when you leave a response. That's usually how talk pages work. Most people will keep a talk page they have posted a message to in their watchlists to await a response. For the original message, unfortunately vandalism will likely never be any less of a violation. It always amazes me how many bored people there are who find nothing better to do than just come and deface articles, often in very childish ways. However, giving an anonymous IP a warning about vandalism committed five DAYS ago is not helpful, particularly since an IP may be shared by multiple users. It would be good if other editors would leave warnings when it happens, but many will just undo it and move on. I always leave a warning myself, but not everyone wants to take the time because often such IPs may never do it again or will just ignore the warnings until they are blocked. There are also several vandal bots, however, they can only detect very obvious vandalism, such as page blanking, replacing pages with profane words or content, adding banned links, easily detectable copyright infringement, etc. They can not do much more than that, as if they are made to strict, they would end up reverting many good edits as well. I wish they could. Last night a vandal moved my user pages to a very ugly named page, but a bot can't fix that so had to wait for an admin to undo. It happens, though. Its annoying, but part of editing on Wikipedia is that one must grow a pretty thick skin, and be able to undo, warn if the vandalism is recent (within a few hours), and then just move on.
