Categories edit

Please do not add redundant categories to articles. With one exception, a category is redundant if the article is already contained in a subcategory of that category. For example, you added Blakely v. Washington to Category:Criminal law. However, it was already in Category:U.S. rights of the accused case law, which is within Category:Rights of the accused, which is within Category:Criminal law. If you think about the relationships of the topics, this makes sense—American case law on rights of the accused is nothing but a nation-specific subtopic of rights of the accused generally, which is nothing but a subtopic of criminal law.

The exception to this rule is when an article itself defines a category. Then it is appropriate to place it not only within its own eponymous category, but also within any category that its own category would belong to as well—logically, they are in an identical classificatory relationship to other topics and subtopics. Proposed deletion of E ( text editor) edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article E ( text editor), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? —  scetoaux (T|C) 23:37, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
