Aubrey Bennett

edit

Hi Freddyfast, thanks for your article on Aubrey Bennett. I've been looking into him a bit further to try and pad out the article with some citations. There's quite a bit of coverage of him in the Townsville Daily Bulletin, but unfortunately most of it is gossip and not really worthy of inclusion in an encyclopaedia! See http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/result?q=%22Aubrey+Bennett%22&l-title=97

There is however, a few stories that appear in Tasmanian newspapers about someone of the same name, mostly clustered around the early 1950s:

I'm assuming that the Aubrey Bennett who had the painful accident with his finger is someone else; if he was 20 when he lost a finger in 1924 he'd only have been 24 when he became an honourary staff member at the hospital in 1928, which seems a bit too young. However, it might not be beyond the realms of possibility that he retired to Tasmania and got interested in aeroplanes and donated to the local children's library. Do you know if it's the same person? Lankiveil (speak to me) 12:40, 19 April 2012 (UTC).Reply
