Overall I really enjoyed your wiki on South Boston so far. I think that your opening is well written my only suggestion is that I would include a sentence or two about the three required sections. The demographics section I think is good the way it is and included just enough information for the reader to get a good idea about South Boston. Your Urban Policy section is off to a good start but I think you need to include more if it is possible. Maybe information about businesses or low income housing. Your community resources section is also a good starting point, I think you just need to be more specific and expand.

Hi Arock135, I've made some changes to one of your sections and I have some suggestions for others.

  • I like the addition of demographics. The Globe's presentation of census data is a valuable source here. I would also suggest adding this link to the external links section. We could use individual references there as sources in limited cases (e.g. to state "X% of people living in South Boston were under the age of 30"), but a reader might want a link to the whole thing at the end of the article.
  • I would also think about what kind of significant figures a reader will want. 76.33% is precise and also accurate, so it is fine to keep things as they are. But "about 3 in 4" or "about 75%" is accurate (with a slight loss of precision) and it can make the text read much better. You'll want to use your judgment for this (the style guide is instructive but not super useful). That may not be appropriate for all your claims here (I just moved it to one significant digit), but it can be helpful to think about.
  • Remember if you want to make a claim like "In addition, part of the revitalization of South Boston was due to the influx of the LGBT community who bought home in traditionally poorer parts of the neighborhood and transformed that neighborhood into something beautiful. This in turn raised the market value of the homes that were in the area that was previously considered the "poor" part of the neighborhood." you have to have a good reliable source to back it up. It's hard to do this, because we're not used to having a few citations a paragraph in other formats, but Wikipedia readers and editors expect it.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need a hand with anything or if you have any questions. Thanks. Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:05, 7 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
