A message from FormalDude

Hi, I have a feedback request for your admintagger script, if you're willing! It works great, and I love that it uses symbols rather than highlighting. I was wondering if you could add edit count tags as well, ones that show, for example, if a user is extended-confirmed, or has over 5,000 edits, etc. I really like Novem Linguae's script that has categories for users with less than 500 edits and users with less than 10,000 edits, but I don't like that it highlights the entire username in order to convey that information. Is this something that could possibly be worked into your script as a visual tag?

Hey FormalDude, thanks for reaching out. I'm open to creating a version of the script with an indicator for edit count. What emoji should we use to represent the different edit counts? Maybe color coded (๐ŸŸข/๐ŸŸก)? Or something more creative (๐Ÿฃ/๐Ÿค or ๐Ÿ‘ถ/๐Ÿง’)? Maybe just show their edit count numerically? Let me know your thoughts! โ€“ Anneย drew 14:36, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for responding! Any of those indicators sounds great. I like the more creative ones especially. The numeric edit count is a good idea too, or perhaps just a number representing every one thousand edits. For example if you have 5,101 edits, the number 5 appears, and if you have 55,445 edits, the number 55 appears. That might be confusing for usernames that have numbers though. Either way, glad to hear you're open to creating another version of the script!
Sticking with the edit count per 1,000 edits, we could use the number emojis . . ) as the indicators. This could potentially just be its own script for displaying edit count. I kinda like that, let me know what you think though!
Hey FormalDude, I've looked into how I can implement this and unfortunately only extended confirmed users (500 edits) and users with 10k edits are listed by NovemBot in userlist.js. In order to tag users with other edit counts, NovemBot would need to be updated to include them (maybe Novem Linguae would be open to that?) Or perhaps there's another bot maintaining a list of edit counts already. โ€“ Anneย drew 20:41, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
I appreciate you looking into it! For now I'd be fine just including extended confirmed users and users with 10k edits, using any of the tags you mentioned earlier. Is that possible?
Yep I can do that! I'll probably have some time this weekend to work on it. โ€“ Anneย drew 17:56, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
Any update on the script? No rush.   โ€“โ€“FormalDude talk 04:03, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
Just wanted to check in again. Thanks for your help. โ€“โ€“FormalDude talk 05:41, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Hey FormalDude, sorry for the long delay. I made a new version of the script here that tags users by edit count. Just replace admintagger in your common.js with admintagger-plus. Please let me know if you have any feedback! โ€“ Anneย drew 16:39, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

My only feedback is minor, I was thinking it may look better to just do colors, red/yellow/green ๐Ÿ”ด/๐ŸŸก/๐ŸŸข, instead of the chick emojis. Also, would it be possible to have the edit counter tags only enabled for users who are not already tagged? Because if a user is an Admin, CheckUser, etc., I don't think you really need to be concerned with their edit count. Thanks again! โ€“โ€“FormalDude talk 03:39, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the barnstar FormalDude! That's good feedback, I went ahead and made those changes. I wasn't sure whether to give experienced and new users the green or red emoji though, so I'm happy to swap them if you want. โ€“ Anneย drew 14:03, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
Sweet. I do think it would be nicer to have experienced users green and new users red, if you're okay with swapping those. Thanks! โ€“โ€“FormalDude talk 19:24, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
 ย Done โ€“ Anneย drew 20:58, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
Hey there. Just a quick note to let you know that I refactored admintagger-plus.js to work cross-wiki. The main change needed was to have it use mw.ForeignApi to grab the dictionary pages. The refactored code is at testwiki:User:Novem_Linguae/annee_drew.js. Feel free to copy paste the code into your official code, if you're interested. Thanks. โ€“Novem Linguae (talk) 15:12, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Admintagger suggestion

Thank you so much for your admintagger script, it's very nice and I've been using it for a while, but I had a thought: there are other, less used rights that I think are still important enough for a tag - specifically, page mover/file mover and interface admin (and maybe EFM/EFH?) seem like advanced permissions it would be useful to have a tag for [in my usage at least] (one combined symbol, perhaps, for the ones I paired up) - How feasible would adding this be, and of course, what's your opinion on whether or not it's necessary? (I understand the need to keep it to high-level user rights to prevent screen clutter etc., but at the very least both page/file mover and interface admin are permissions that editors often find themselves seeking out others with the permission to help, and this script would make that easier.) Again, thank you for the script. casualdejekyll 03:07, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
