WP:COMMONNAME

edit

Your comments were removed from the ANI thread, so allow me to drop this response here. Im actually wrong on the last one, Calcutta was moved to Kolkata earlier, but I felt it was best to leave the comment uneditted:

Actually, we have WP:COMMONNAME for a reason. Juneau, Alaska is not at The City and Borough of Juneau, Rhode Island is not at Rhode Island and the Providence Plantations, and Calcutta is not at Kolkata, all official names. The official name is not useful as a title if people dont call it that name in every day use. -- ۩ Mask 00:47, 28 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on other people again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Magioladitis (talk) 00:53, 28 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

The IP resolves to Lawrence, KS, which is the home of K-State's biggest rival. I think it's safe to assume that the IP is not editing in good-faith in its attempts to force a non-standard name, that no one ever uses for any reason onto the article. Particularly given the grossly uncivil attacks made on the K-State talkpage, why does this IP ever need to have editing rights (as an IP anyways) again? LHM 09:28, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
