There was a German Nintendo magazine that was available to fans (in the beginning, then not, then again) free-of-charge. When doing Mega Man X they wrote about "Die hübsche Reploidin Zero" (the beautiful female reploid Zero) helping X. Zero has an Ambiguous Gender Identity but is suggested as to identify as male. But his Booblights, long blonde hair, and feminine appearance gets him frequently mistaken for a girl, and he has a lot of male admirers.
