In this lesson, we will mainly be covering the speedy deletion criteria of Userpages, Files, and the General speedy deletion criteria.

Let's begin with the General Deletion Criteria. Please see Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#General, and summarize each deletion criterion (in your own words) in one sentence. If there are any major exceptions to those rules, please use another sentence to describe that exception.

G1: - A page that's really consisting of something like "JFDSJFLSJFLFJ" It dosen't apply to just poor writing
G2: - Test pages, excludes Sandbox and userspace
G3: - Vandalism and Hoaxes, what'd you see in any other article.
G4: - Deleted after being taken too WP:XFD, if the material is substantially different, userfied, or undeleted through deletion review it dosen't apply.
G5: - Blocked or banned users, pretty straightforward.
G6: - "Minor" deletions, where it would be uncontroversial to delete.
G7: - If the author requests it
G8: - Depends on an existing page.
G9: - The wikimedia foundation orders it, so shall it be.
G10: - Personal attacks
G11: - Advertising
G12: - Copyvios

Hm. Not bad. For so few words, you summarize WP:CSD#General fairly well. Looks like we won't have to spend a great deal of time reviewing this General CSD. Let's try these follow-up questions before moving on:

1. There is a fine line determining whether a "hoax" article should be deleted per WP:CSD#G3 or taken to WP:AFD. What is/are the determining factor(s)? [making a list is just fine]

A: It should only be Speedily deleted if it is a Blatant Hoax, meaning if you look at it and can tell it's not true off the bat delete it. Take it to AFD If your not so sure.

2.The main author of a fairly decent article (let's say B class) gets in a dispute with other editors who edit the page somewhat infrequently. The main author subsequently requests speedy deletion of the article per G7. Do you honor this request? Explain.

A: No, Only if it's a good faith request not "If I can't have it my way, then no one can have it."

3. Could you please expand on what is meant by WP:CSD#G8? Additionally, give an example of what qualifies for deletion under WP:CSD#G8 and what would not.

A: Sure, I mean by "Dependant" that it serves no use without the Main page, such as the talk page of a deleted article. What would not qualify is, say an Orphaned article.

4. What determines whether a article is a copyvio? (Hint: Not all pages copied word for word from other websites/external sources are copyvios. Think about how this could be possbile.) [I'm looking for a specific answer here]

A: If there is no assertion that the information in the article is allowed to be used on Wikipedia, such as commercial use.

Not exactly - this question is looking to see if you understand the general principles behind licensing/copyright (which are especially important when dealing with images). Basically you want to identify the license/copyright of the copied text. If the text is clearly copyrighted (e.g. from Reuters' website) or if there is no evidence suggesting that the original author of the work has released the work under a Public Domain or cc-by-sa/GFDL license (What makes Wikipedia free - other CC/GFDL license combos are incompatible), then the article should be deleted per WP:CSD#G12. I think we're ready to move on. It doesn't seem like you'll have any major difficulty with the general speedy deletion criteria. Now, let's try the Userspace, Redirects, Categories, Templates, and Portals Like noted above, please see the relevant sections at Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion, and summarize each deletion criterion below (in your own words) in one sentence. If there are any major exceptions to those rules, please use another sentence to describe that exception.

User pages edit

U1 - User Requested
U2 - The User does not exist
U3 - If it is only a gallery of Fair use or nonfree images.

Categories edit

C1 - Categories that have been unpopulated for four days, unless marked otherwise.
C2 - Three reasons for this one, all having to do with Renaming or Merging:

Fixing typos
Renaming per established Wiki standards
Organization

Redirects edit

R2 -Redirects out of the mainspace except for Category, Template, Help or Portal
R3 - Implausible typos, basically no way someones spelling could be that bad..

Templates edit

T2 - Templates that don't follow policy, such as the warning templates ecouraging the action.
T3 - Not being used in any useful way.

Portals edit

P1 - If it would be deleted as an article, It'd be deleted here
P2 - Underpopulated, any with less then three non-stubs

Other than a minor hiccup with Question Four up above, everything looks pretty good. I'm confident you'll be fine with the CSD categories we covered above. When in doubt, always refer to WP:CSD as a reference - it's better to be certain, than to assume and make mistakes. Also, keep in mind that WP:XFD is an equally valid route for dispelling any uncertainty or dealing with pages that do not meet the above criteria. Before we move on though, I have a confession to make - I'm no expert on Article CSD.
