• DYK renamed to "Recent additions" or "Recently improved articles"
• Hooks replaced by blurbs which provide a concise summary of an article. Think Signpost featured content blurbs
• Blurbs are about 300 characters long (anything from 250 to 350 characters would be fine)
• Nominators are required to provide a blurb of the article, instead of a hook
• 4 blurbs per set, one article per blurb. Topmost blurb of each set gets an image
• Blurbs should contain a variety of articles. Just like DYK, a maximum of 2 biographies and 2 articles about America
• Sets are updated every 8 hours, resulting in 12 articles per day. Rate can be adjusted to one set per 6, 8, 12, 16 or 24 hours depending on number of article nominations, just like DYK
• Instead of checking the accuracy and interest of a DYK hook, reviewers check whether the blurb stays true to the article and is grammatically correct
• To compensate for the lower number of articles that can be featured, the prose size requirement may be increased from a minimum of 1500 characters to 2500 characters, although I don't really think this is necessary
• Everything else, including article eligibility, images, QPQ requirements, prep and queue areas, set promotion, etc. is carried on from DYK

Advantages

• Drop-in replacement, can use existing DYK infrastructure, such as bots, templates, prep areas, etc. with only aesthetic changes required
• Solves accuracy and interest concerns about hooks, by abandoning hooks altogether
• More useful information for each article
• More images can be featured
• No need to twist a fact to make it interesting, which often affects accuracy as well. A blurb is basically a shortened lead section, which does not require citations

Implementation

• In a transition period between DYK and the new system, article nominators are required to submit both a hook and a blurb
• Once all submissions with only DYK hooks are used up, transition to new system by using the blurbs, and update templates (such as {{NewDYKnomination}} and {{DYK talk}})
• After transition, stop requiring blurbs for new submissions
• Decide whether project pages need to be renamed; if pages are renamed, bots need to be updated to reflect the new page titles, which should not be too complicated
• A press release may be used to inform readers of this change, similar to Wikipedia:Main Page history/2015 November 2, since after all we are replacing a 12-year-old feature on the main page
