Becoming a Violist

When I was in 5th grade, I was provided with a wondrous opportunity to learn an instrument. I was delighted when I heard the news from an informational flyer my teacher handed out in class, and rushed home to ask my parents permission. Surprisingly, they were as thrilled as I was and I found myself with a challenge: Which one should I choose? After several meetings and hours of deliberation, I figured it out - the viola.

The viola is a four stringed instrument with a warm, harmonic tone that is a key feature of many orchestral pieces. I fell for it completely; its gorgeous tone, its beautiful design, its ability to be carried around easily, and I knew I had made the right choice. Looking back, I am so thankful I made this decision, as being a musician has changed my life for the better.
