Amerivision Song Contest

The Amerivision Song Contest 1989 was the thirty-fourth edition of the annual Amerivision Song Contest, organised by the American Broadcasting Union (ABU), host broadcaster Public Television of Bahamas (PTB) as well as a partnership with the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). The edition was hosted in the Nassau Silver Hall, in Nassau, The Bahamas, as the country earned the right to host the contest by winning the previous edition.

The edition saw the happening of a never seen before feat, as host broadcaster PTB partnered with american broadcaster NBC to help with organizing the contest in Bahamas, due to the lack of venues that could handle the contest in the country, it was agreed that while the Bahamian government would construct a venue, the Nassau Silver Hall, and NBC would be in charge of organizing the event, which is why Helen Reddy got to be one of the hosts for the edition.

Host picking

edit

No venues were available to host the event in the Bahamas, so a brand new venue with the capacity for 3,230 people was constructed for the event.
