I am a university lecturer for a graduate level course that looks at types of regimes and governance structures in the Middle East, and the implications on issues such as human rights, and democracy. I am in the process of setting up a course assignment that has the students working in small groups to prepare a wikipedia article that fills an existing gap on Wikipedia, and that relates to one of the three themes of the course.
My research field is democratisation generally speaking, focusing on the mechanism of international development assistance as a key aspect of this process. My work focuses on the Middle East region, looking at the policy and practice of promoting democracy in non-democratic, and transitioning countries. I have been teaching at the university for five years, and this is the first year that I am incorporating Wikipedia into a course.
