Ramón Pané was a Spanish friar of the Hieronymite Order who accompanied Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the New World in 1494. He is the author of Antiquities of the Indies, a ...[1][2][3][4][5] He is also known as the person who first introduced tobacco to Europe in 1518.[6]
Life edit
Ramon Pane came from the Spanish region of Catalonia, where he entered the priesthood as a friar of the Order of St. Jerome.[7]
