SEMI-RETIRED

Due to my displeasure with the bureaucracy surrounding Wikipedia, my motivation to edit on a regular basis has dissipated. Don't ask me to commit to anything, please.

Rant and Departure

I have been happy to have contributed to this place for the past 13 years. There have been times I went into hiding for a span of years, but every time I returned it felt great to be back helping build this online encyclopedia.

But sadly, I feel like my time is done, yet again. I am not happy with the bureaucracy behind Wikipedia. You have lackadaisical administrators that have power trips--in a nutshell, they receive some form of power and instead of using it to help build Wikipedia, they are only destroying others' work in the process because they are tied up with wanting others to follow all the rules all the time.

I have always been an advocate of assuming good faith, but also being bold and ignoring the rules. You can never make improvements with following the rules all the time (as long as you aren't vandalizing or being disruptive), yet some people just don't see it that way. You may only end up doing more harm than good by being complacent and "abiding by the rules". I don't think this is a good way to operate an encyclopedia.

I will not be active on Wikipedia as much anymore. I will still use it as a researching tool, but not to contribute as heavily. Thank you for all your time and to all the friends I've made on here! If you need any input or a second opinion on something, email me! Otherwise you can expect a delayed response if I'm not signed on and passing through the website.
