Introduction edit

This is an idea I have had for helping with Userbox migration using Auto Wiki Browser and the principle of RegExTypoFix. Userbox migration involves moving userboxes from {{User Google}} to {{User:Flutefluteflute/Userboxes/Google}}. The problem comes when updating all the userpages with the new wikicode.

RegExTypoFix is an option in Auto Wiki Browser that replaces common misspellings with the correct spelling. It uses this list of changes.

Implementation/Theory edit

The basic idea is too create a list like this one of moving userboxes - so whenever {{User Google}} is found it is replaced with {{User:Flutefluteflute/Userboxes/Google}}. This would take some time. It would be important that when more userboxes are moved then they are also added.

All userpages with userboxes needing to be moved should be put in a category like [[Category:Pages with Moved Userboxes On]] - I don'yt know how this could be done but I'm sure someone does!

Then Auto Wiki Browser could have a tick box added (like the one it currently has for RegExTypoFix) to enable userbox replacing.

Finally Wikipedians with Auto Wiki Browser can create a list of articles from the category and turn on the "Userbox Replacing Mode" and start replacing.

Comments edit

I am very keen to hear your comments on this idea. Please discuss on the talk page. I would prefer it if you did not edit this pages content. Flutefluteflute Talk Contributions 13:45, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
