Tamer al-Awam , sometimes spelled Tamer Alawam, ((20 August 1978? – September 2012), was a Syrian filmmaker, journalist, and activist who was killed while working on a new film about the Free Syrian Army during the Syrian civil war in Aleppo ... He is known for his other Arabic-language documentary film called 'Memories At Checkpoint' for the Orient News pro-rebel television channel. Tamer al-Awam was a filmmaker and journalist. He studied film and cinema in Germany. He worked closely with media activists in both Syria and Germany. His Arabic Film "Memories at the Checkpoint" was a part of his active support of the "Free Syrian Army" in the current civil uprising in Syria.
