Work

edit

Since 2009, Shahmiri has created several theatre productions such as Blind Track of Stars (2009), As You Like it (2011), Murder in Scriptorium (2011), Damascus (2013), Not to Be (2016) and Voicelessness. Among her works, Voicelessness has been performed in various festivals in different countries.[2] In 2017, Voicelessness competed in the theatre section of the Edinburgh international theatre section.[3] In the same year, Voicelessness was performed in the old Brigittines Chapel of Brussels during Kunstenfestivaldesarts.[4] The script of voicelessness is the result of a collaboration between Azade Shamiri and Soheil Amirsharifi.[1] In voicelessness, Shahmiri's internationally recognised play, she talks about censorship in Iran by telling a story about the future of her country. The story occurs in 2070 and is about a young woman who hopelessly tries to find out the truth about the disappearance of her grandfather.[5]
