Mentorship edit

What's next? edit

  • Continue to keep up with your content contributions. You are doing well on this aspect.
  • Be WP:BOLD to use your judgement.
    • On top of AfD sorting, try voicing a few opinons/votes/!votes that you have come across on a more regular basis for a start.
    • Don't worry if your opinions differ from others. It is perfectly okay if you have given some thought and done your research.

but...

  • Don't rush. Understand and remember that you do not necessarily require on-the-spot black and white decisions.
    • You don't have to make split second decisions. Even functionaries/arbitrators rarely do that. If you can't decide about an AfD, try using Comment instead of keep/delete and write your preliminary thoughts. It is always better than to ponder how are you going to change your stand later.
    • This is also the main issue you are facing with RfA questions. Several questions are designed in a way that you have to given them more thought than at first glance. Be aware of false dilemmas.
    • It is okay if you cannot sort all the AfDs at one go because you have spent some time voicing out at AfDs. Another editor (or prospective admin) can always pick up the tab.
    • If you are unsure, you can always ask another editor for advice. It's about building consensus.
    • The same principle applies if you are performing new page patrol (if you are not into this, don't worry. We will eventually explore this later). Err on the side of caution. Many candidates fall flat because they react too quickly, tagging CSDs that get rejected. Explore other possible solutions, such as fixing up the article. This is where content creators shine.
    • Don't bite off more than you can chew!
  • Continue to assume good faith.
    • It is perfectly okay to give benefit of the doubt. Those who take advantage and abuse it are quickly found out (making the case more clear cut).
