Question
editWhy does this Template not work when I tested it?

{{editprotected}}
- Request: "Edit summary usage" (Mathbot's edit summary usage tool) is no use because it's a dead link and "edit count" already shows the edit summary usage.
- Not done: 'cuz I fixed the link to mathbot's tool. It's been moved to the toolserver. Cheers. --lifebaka (talk - contribs) 19:12, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Increase flexibility
edit{{editprotected}}
- Add {{{style}}} parameter to the <div>
- Remove the www. from mathbot edit summary
- Add parameter (maybe something like {{{text}}} or {{{after}}}) to allow inserting of additional text
- Use Plainlinksneverexpand class and/or add the metadata class
- Maybe a class like topicon but toptext?
- Use [{{fullurl:tools:~interiot/....kate|querystring}} tool]
- Get ride of the blue tint on the links, should need it anyway.
That's all I can think of now. — Dispenser 02:38, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- This shouldn't even be protected anyways, so I'd like to add that whoever handles this should also unprotect it. It's not used in articles, so any potential vandalism isn't relevant.. —Locke Cole • t • c 01:16, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Protection should stay as it is used in over 3500 pages. It is a High-risk template as it "...is transcluded into a very large number of pages.". No comment on the proposed changes. - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:52, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Secure server
editThe edit count link does not work when I'm logged in on the secure server, it sends me to something like this instead of this. swaq 15:20, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Case-sensitive purge
editWhy is |purge=yes
case-sensitive when it would take all of seven additional bytes to write {{#ifeq:{{lc:{{{purge}}}}}|yes|...
? —Dinoguy1000 18:58, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- Because when I wrote this template there was no lowercase function available. Further, it's protected so I can't enact your proposed change. Finally, it seems another editor believes this functionality should be deprecated (however, I disagree). —Locke Cole • t • c 02:52, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- There's little use for a purge as I see it, especially with the purge clock gadget. A parameter to add text would be far more useful and would substitute the purge function. — Dispenser 04:21, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with your latter suggestion, but this template is (needlessly) protected. So making additional changes to it is impossible without intervention from an administrator. As purge is optional, having it available causes no harm. —Locke Cole • t • c 20:58, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Proper topicon class
edit{{editprotected}} The outer <div> should be using the topicon class, to prevent breakage. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)/Archive_50#Topicons. Thanks. OrangeDog (talk • edits) 17:43, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Update
edit{{editprotected}} I've made a few updates to the template given the recent edit above, my changes are available here: User:Locke Cole/Template:Userpageinfo. It removes some redundant CSS and more closely aligns it to the right edge of the screen. —Locke Cole • t • c 19:33, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Move to the left slightly
edit{{editprotected}}
I'd wait to use the editprotected request, but noone is watching or regularly viewing this page. Could someone change the "right: 0em;" style to something like "right: 5em;", in order to move the whole thing to the left slightly, please? As is, it overlaps with the other icons that sometimes appears in the same area.

- I've made an exact copy (less doc part) at Template:Userpageinfo/Sandbox. Play with that one and decide on the best settings - use like {{Userpageinfo/Sandbox}} on a test page. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:23, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- I changed the one in the sandbox to use 5em, and that appears to work perfectly (in my view, at least). I even added an instance of {{Administrator topicon}} to the sandbox page in order to test/display the main reason for moving it as an example. ...although, now that I think about it, that should probably be a parameter with 5 as the default so that you can move it yourself, in the same way that you (User:Ronhjones) adjusted {{Administrator topicon}} for your own user page for example... so, that's done in the sandbox now as well.
— V = IR (Talk • Contribs) 21:32, 9 March 2010 (UTC)- So I did, I remember it vanishing under the status icon. Anyway - Done Ronhjones (Talk) 22:27, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks Ron! *Thumbs up*

- 1. There is still a reference to it in the main page ("By default this template displays a link to soxred93's Tool").
- 2. The URL has changed again. Now ~tparis's redirects to a new location - "Notice: This tool has now permanently moved to labs. You will now automatically be redirected to the new location on labs within 30 seconds. Please note that the tool you seek is now located at https://tools.wmflabs.org/xtools/pcount/index.php". --Mortense (talk) 12:40, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Mortense, fixed again. Thank you for drawing attention to it. I have also lowered the protection level to enable template editors to edit this one in the future. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 17:04, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
