Submodule for Template:Infobox person

edit

For articles of some people, a snippet of their voice is added to the infobox (for examples, see commons:Category:Voice samples in English). This is done using template {{Listen}}. I've implemented a wrapper around it to simplify addition to the infobox and to unify styling: template {{Listen voice}}. Examples of how it is used:

Examples of usage of Template:Listen voice
Diff Article Notes
Special:Diff/1224590335/1226617170 Stephen Fry Simplest usage, with |recorded=
Special:Diff/1220907103/1226617359 Daniel Stenberg Simplest usage, with |published=
Special:Diff/1226468150/1226617420 Katie Mack (astrophysicist) with |title= overriding the text above the audio player
Special:Diff/1226619683 Emily Temple-Wood with |name= to preserve wording used in {{Listen}} before, which used only the surname
Special:Diff/1226618835 Ban Ki-moon with |description= overriding the text below the audio player

This looks really good, andrybak. Would you be alright with this slight adjustment? This way, |recorded= and |published= can be filled in addition to |description=. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 20:18, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Neveselbert, that would be great. There aren't yet a lot of transclusions of this template, so improvements like this should be easy to implement. For this change, I don't anticipate any breakage, but for some pages, splitting |description= into |description= and |recorded= would be useful. For example, Ban Ki-moon, Margaret Thatcher, John F. Kennedy. —andrybak (talk) 20:35, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
How would you like to reword the documentation? ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 20:55, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll update it after the new code gets a couple of uses on the pages. —andrybak (talk) 21:10, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Done for Margaret Thatcher and Elizabeth II. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 22:13, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
