Regarding this edit: generally, fewer abbreviations are desirable for greater clarity, particularly for those unfamilar with the sport. Given the prevalence of the "AL" and "NL" abbreviations in any baseball article, I feel that a reasonable short description is "AL Wild Card" and "NL Wild Card".
