Width setting

edit

I reverted the most recent edit as it was causing items to appear too closely to one another on the same line, instead of more evenly-spaced across the Current events/Sidebar.

At present time, 14em is probably the column width which this template will usually require, but it may need to be larger depending on the rolling data which may come along. Is there any reason why this template can't have a basic width option (like div col has)? Farolif (talk) 22:58, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Farolif, that's fine, I only made the adjustment after I myself noticed that the item for The Amazing Johnathan appeared too close to the margin on the right. The current code (that you reverted to) makes it so that 14em is the minimum width for both columns, while the maximum width will always be one fraction of the available space, however large it may be. As for why this template can't have such an option, I've tried including it in the code here and on the template itself, and it has caused several rendering issues. I'm still troubleshooting the sandbox while researching to find a way to implement an option to manually adjust the width eventually. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 16:33, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've restored it to 1fr until I find another solution. 1fr is equivalent to 50% of the available space, this is as even as it is possible to get within the margins of the available space, otherwise we're just pushing text beyond the right margin and making the margins themselves look uneven. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 17:23, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Had to revert that last gap increase. Even after I removed the nbsp from TAJ's item, there was still a line wrap for both him and SF Rodrigues. It looks OK for now, but I'm afraid there's still some changes needed for this. Farolif (talk) 01:21, 5 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
